Tell TKP: Apple Device + Recruiting Thread Bug

Hi all, there seems to be an issue on iPhone and iPad (regardless of browser) when loading the recruiting threads. I believe this is due to the overwhelming amount of Twitter embeds (or possibly those that include videos). I turned off Twitter embeds site-wide and the issue went away.

However, that's not a permanent fix because it breaks a lot of other content (staff articles), and has since been reverted.

Honestly, the situation is very much at the mercy of Apple. Hopefully they are aware and provide a fix.

Thanks for the updates. Appreciate your hard work behind the scenes

Was wondering if it was just me lol...thanks Joe!

I first noticed it yesterday I believe, just thought it was my old computer. Hope Apple cooperates and gets it taken care of for you.

What type of device are you using?

The Apple/iOS developer in me is now curious about this. It may be also a Twitter related problem? I did a quick search and saw this was reported on Twitter's Community forums 3 days ago. My initial rough guess is that Twitter probably updated some stuff on their side on how they embed and it makes the JavaScript renderer in Safari/Webkit super unhappy

But I also don't discard the fact that yes the JS handler in WebKit is known to be cranky, and as with everything we're at Apple's whims

That would make a lot of sense, since I haven't had an iOS update in a while and this issue started happening recently (not aligned with when the iOS updates happened).

Thanks for tracking this down. Yeah I also thought it might be due to a Twitter introduced change. Hopefully it gets resolved. I'm starting to see it pop up on other sites too.

Someone replied that it tends to happen more with "sensitive content", but seeing other embeds work here seems like the issue is probably video vs just a plain text tweet or even an image, so perhaps something in their video layer got updated is my off the cuff guess

Started noticing on the MacBook Pro around Wednesday or Thursday. When it continued on the I Pad I thought it was a TKP issue. So no issue if I use Chrome?

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

I haven't had any issues with Chrome on my MBP, but Chrome on my iPhone doesn't work.

Chrome on my iPad had the same problem as the iPhone.

Firefox on MBP works. I don't have anything else apple.

Had the same problem, I just assumed Verizon was screwing me over somehow. iPhone 11 w/ Safari.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

Twitter noted they released a patch. It's working for me again.
