Pry-ssr Signing Day 12.20.23

  • Just 2 years into building relationships back in this state. Signed 4 of the top 15 VA players this year, this will continue to grow as time goes on
  • Put the brakes on HS recruiting a couple weeks ago because of all of the returning players. This level of retention was a good problem to have. We don't have the space to take everyone that wants to be at Tech.
  • Pry talks individually about the process of recruiting Peebles and Brumfield around the 7min mark.
  • NC recruits make sense for Tech. Some of those programs are closer to Blacksburg than VA Beach schools. Holt and Jones have a bunch of experience recruiting the area.
  • Staff Christmas/signing day party tonight. Tomorrow is an off-day, most of the team celebrating Christmas tomorrow. Headed to Annapolis Friday.
  • Copeland always wanted to go to Tech. Didn't work out on his first or second attempt, but he kept working to make it happen.
  • Talks about the skill sets of all of the D linemen we brought in around the 17min mark.
  • Belfort was the first public commit. Dandy was the first.
  • Much better roster balance than 2 years ago. Near where we want it to be, Pry likes having a bigger scholarship allotment for DBs since they are used in special teams frequently.
  • We want to recruit as many guys that can play multiple positions as possible. It's good for them and good for the team. Pry wants them to start where their passion is and then work from there to gain playing time or help the team with depth.
  • 2 additional transfer players that have been on campus that we'd like to have. Otherwise, in a holding pattern unless things change.

Both he and Coach Cheetah have mentioned visiting MTSU multiple times over the year and establishing connections with the coaching staff, and how the MTSU coaching staff advocated for Lane and Brumfield.

I been here since day 0.

Damn, now I'm even more bummed Stockstill got canned.

You should feel good that he will be an analyst for the Hokies in 2024 (if he doesn't get a better job and if he wants it).

How did I miss this? That's awesome.

It's not a thing yet, but Pry was on the Inside the Tunnel podcast today and it was discussed. Pry, of course, was noncommittal, but it sounds as if it is a real possibility for next year.

He wasn't really a good coach...

Did Delane's little brother commit somewhere?

He's class of 2025

He announced his top 5 on Mansoor's bday:

Us, three big dawgs and a traffic cone.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Thanks for putting this together!

His reaction to Teel's question about Dook cracked me up.

And the story about Copeland's journey really makes you root for the kid.

Yeah, that reaction needs to be GIF-ified.

Just for you. Because you put in so much work so it's the least I could do.

Thanks, it's great.

Happy to

This is my reaction to half the questions my wife asks me.

Haha!
