Arlington is having a 2nd half to completely erase whatever it was they put on the field in the first half. Bob Stoops looks like he's enjoying himself on the sideline.

I was amused when Stoops said that after being home his wife strongly encouraged him to get into coaching in the XFL...

Going to watch the DC Defenders game tomorrow on TV just to check it out.

Same. I went as far as looking into tickets for the game and was surprised at both the ticket prices and how few tickets were still left. I know DC has one of the smaller XFL venues but they may end up filling most of the stadium. Probably because they are the most competent football team in DC.

I mean that was Roosevelt high school pervious so...

People remember the energy from the first Defenders season so people were probably extremely excited for them to come back. They should probably sell out every game this season.

I mean DC does need a GOOD football team to root for...

Yeah plus the lack of negative vibes around the team and a more accessible location created a really fun atmosphere that already had created a culture with the beer snake tradition in season 1. Now they've added lemons. There's also a little crossover of DC United fans, you could hear singing on the broadcast last night. Of all the XFL teams they are building a really strong fan culture that will keep people coming back and people want to be part of the creating those traditions and that fan culture.

I fully agree! I think the culture and traditions that DC is creating will make them a memorable and fun team to watch.

A local from the Cape, Andrew Jamiel, plays slot receiver for Orlando. He caught a couple of passes last night, including a TD. Great kid, great family. I had the good fortune of coaching Andrew in baseball when he was in 8th grade. He set all kinds of records in football both in HS and at Stonehill College. He's been bouncing around the fringe leagues for a couple of years. Wherever he plays, he simply produces.

His younger brother Geoffrey (who I coached for a year in basketball) is following in his footsteps, playing football at Lehigh. The Dad Joe is in the HOF at Brown, and his oldest brother JoJo played D1 football for Sacred Heart and also works for a good friend of mine. Incredibly talented family, and more importantly, great people.

You don't find many professional football players from Cape Cod. We're all rooting for Andrew.

Edit: grammar

The end of the game just now was insane. The 3 point conversion from the 10 yard line, a 4th and 15 conversion instead of a kickoff that let's St Louis come back from 12 down in the last 2 minutes.

The DC fans tried to bring back the beer cup snake and security took it away. So what do they do? Throw a shit ton of lemons on the field. (Where in the hell did they get lemons anyway?) And then they got ROWDY. That endzone that had the beer cup snake went crazy. Right after that a DC Defenders DB got a pick 6. The Defenders have a better home field advantage than that other Washington team.

EDIT: Found the source of the lemons. These fans are drunk as shit.

Apparently they started a new beer snake.

i just watched the end of the game on replay and the announcers definitely called-out the fans in the end zone for their enthusiasm. Even made a comment about how the beer snake was taken away.

Impressive first weekend. The Rock and Dani Garcia were beaming on TV all weekend. Product on the field was decent, but it'll come with time.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Listening to the play calling and getting to listen in on the review process while a little clunky was way better than having to listen to announcers just babble for minutes while reviews are going on. The DC fans as mentioned were crazy and that game had a great ending. Forced fumble on the two yard line to save the win for DC.

At least now I have a pro team to root for in Texas.

I also root for: The Keydets, Army, TexAggies, NY Giants, NY Rangers, ATL Braves, and SA Brahmas

As a Houstonian, I was really hoping to see Cam come back to the Roughnecks.

I love the tickle of Dickel in my belly

Missed the games this weekend. I am hoping I can actually find some stats online somewhere.

Thanks, I kind of think the big sports websites are trying to ignore the XFL and just hope it dies. They have their funding tied to the NFL.

I noticed ESPN's website coverage of the XFL is the absolute bare minimum. Which I think is extremely odd given that they have a broadcast partnership with the XFL

Why cover live sports action when you can continue the thrilling MJ vs Lebron debate, what is Lebron wearing today coverage, etc?

ESPN just wants to give the broadcasting talent they have and are already paying for extra offseason work, while getting eyeballs and ad revenue, without actually spending much money on doing so.

Yeah frequently have ESPN on and watching BB games streaming, but they didn't run an ad that I saw for the XFL which they are carrying the games for.

Unfortunately, still no stats, just W-L game results. XFL's own site doesn't even have stats.

That needs to be fixed Stat.

I'm wondering if this is intentional. Even on the XFL site there doesnt appear to be a league stats section. You can only find the individual game stats via the game center for each game (e.g. - https://www.xfl.com/games/2302004-SEA-at-DC).

I really wanna see at least one SA Brahmas game this season

Have to admit the rules in this one keep things exciting. Watched the Sea Dragons and Battle Hawks go down to a game winning field goal as time expired. That was a good sports night with Kitley buzzer beater. DC has a really good defense and the weather conditions in Vegas were surprising (I guess it can rain in Vegas.) Watching the Vegas kicker go upside down on his field goal try was good comedy too.

The best part though is how many people are miked up. You get to hear some crazy play calls. Get to hear the ref talking to other refs and the replay booth. Replay booth being tied in to announcers to ask questions after a call. Just all around more entertaining than the NFL.

I watched a bit of the Vegas/DC game and the weather looked awful. Just as surprising was just the field that they were playing on. Vegas has an atrocious house they are playing and I was shocked that this was the best the XFL could do. For those that are not aware - this is where they play:

Really not that many stadium options in Vegas. It's no longer a baseball field so at least it's all grass. Honestly was surprised it was real grass due to the environment. Most of the other cities there were much better facilities only because they have higher profile sports that they are falling in on.

I read up on this (very briefly) and apparently they (the XFL) had a very difficult time securing a location in Vegas for the home field. It almost reached a point where Vegas would have played exclusively on the road. I'm not sure what specifically got in the way, but it sounded like they were lucky to get this field.

Raiders were afraid they would be more popular.
