LET'S GO!
HOKIES!!!
Did some internet research and he played one P5 team in Duke in 2022 and ran for 133 on 13 carries. In addition to that, he had an outstanding season. The numbers don't lie...I like this move

I miss that guy!
Saquan Barkley did this last night in the Giants win.
Probably in the course of a play.
Good shit, we're loading up.
Gonna have a bunch of outgoing portal entrants in spring to make room
Darn tuten
Good to know that staff can get "heated" with Varner but then go out and do the same thing to another school.
Welcome aboard, bhayshul!
It shows they have the capacity to take a hit, stay on the attack, and get results.
Hopefully that can translate on the field too.
Welcome home!
I know he was already on his way to the ACC, but gaht-dayum they're gonna butcher his name on ACCNE+Finall2_thistimeimeanitreally
FTFY
if they butcher his name on RSN and there is nobody there to hear/see it, did it really happen?
Don't worry, it'll be blacked out wherever you live.
Had an offer from UGA!? The university of Georgia bulldogs?!
checks out
Big get - P5 level player from a skills standpoint. Immediately the best runner out of the RB group. If he can do the little things (block and understand the offense) he is a difference-maker.
If we keep this up I'm going to get excited for this season. I haven't felt that in forever.
Hell yeah, someone that UGA offered and we got feels like a huge win
Does that say 6.5 yards per carry?! Fantastic pickup! Now why do I have this feeling I am not going to be happy when the other shoe drops?
Still don't love how players can do this. But, I like how Pry and company saw it be done to them and stayed on the offensive. Played within the rules that burned them once. Growth shown out of the staff to me.
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
Just be glad we have coaches who understand it.
More concise of what I meant, but exactly my sentiment.
r there any highlights?
https://youtu.be/orehkOex-6Q?t=1074 There's a nice juke here.
Looking forward to him Tuten his horn in the end zone this fall
I watched his HS highlights and he has a lot of Saquon in his game. You can tell Saquon is a major influence. He is built solid and seems to be very fast. He's from Jersey so I don't know how good his competition is but he did seem to be the best player on his team.
After deciding I didn't want to bother trying to get tickets for the Rutgers' game next September, I'm thinking of going again if the prices are not too absurd. Looks like a lot of progress is being made for 2023 and beyond.
I'll be there!
That's the plan for me too!!
It's pronounced Kevin!
RB King Tuten-Thomas of the Lane dynasty.
Hoping for King Tuten-Tharock ruler of the Endzone territories.
I hope we see things.
Wonderful things
Watching some film now. He can ball.
There's something about him that reminds me of Khalil Herbert. I'm officially excited.
Yes that offensive line was making holes similar to the ones Herbert had. But seriously his burst in that video on the second play shown is very Khalil-like.
Kinda reminds me of Keaton Mitchell from ECU speed wise. Guy was an absolute stud
Is Tuten uncommon? I hope so! Will we see Pry do this in the locker room? I hope so!

I have a few of his albums that I love to play at the house. Most Steve Martin clips will get automatic legs from me. He also needs to be in the OT thread on the Airplane problems. Could be a decent movie plot trying to get home.
Steve Martin actually did a show at Burruss in 75-76. I caught one of the oranges he used to juggle with & had tossed to the audience. I remember carrying it back across the Drill Field after the show & wondering "wtf am I supposed to do with this"?
Graduate, get a job at Darpa, create the internet, move to AOL, create marketplaces, and then sell online .... pretty obvious for mid 70s I think
I was there.
"So, how much did you all pay to get in?"
Awesome! I remember that now. Actually, it couldn't have been more than a couple of bucks, right? I have a $5.50 ticket stub for Springsteen from back then...
I remember the Collegiate Times promoting a big concert was coming, but didn't say who it was. Tickets were $7.50, which was a lot in the late 70's, early 80's as most concerts were just a couple bucks. The next week it was announced it was Warren Zevon. Warren Zevon was good but we were expecting something bigger.
Early 1980s, I saw the Kinks in Cassell for I think $8 or so. Only a 55 minute show but hey for $8 I guess that wasn't bad!
I was just showing my wife videos of theirs last night!
OT again, but Father Christmas may be one of my favorites to slip in during the holiday period.
In 93 They Might Be Giants played over in Squires. That was a fun concert.
UB40 and Little Feat played in Burris in the late 80's for almost nothing for a student ticket. Great venue for a concert, not a bad seat anywhere.
Burris is a great auditorium. As a student I bought subscription tickets to the fine arts seasons there. I went to George Thorogood when he came to Cassell in '87 iirc. Good but something off about the venue.
I saw Audio Adrenaline in Burruss in 2001. I hadn't thought of that concert in years until your comment.
Was at school through 1983, don't remember the Kinks, so was likely '84 or after. Toto played Burris, and I think Molly Hatchet and Charlie Daniels played Cassel, not sure of the years though. Toto was probably '81 or '82, and the others '82 or '83.
I remember Toto. That was the loudest concert I've been to. My ears rang for 3 days. I believe Louisiana Larue opened for Toto.
I saw Elvis Costello play in Burrus in the early 80s as well. That was a good show.
Saw the Hoodoo Gurus at Squires back in the day.....Great show.
I saw that one too. Didn't know them at the time and became a fan. Also saw George Thorogood and the DD at Buruss
Bob Dylan at Cassell ('89?) may have been the worst concert I have been to. Not sure if the acoustics are that bad, or if it was the new album he was promoting, or an off night, but even the songs I love sounded awful that night.
Guy can't sing a lick. Neither can Kurt Cobain. Petty and Springsteen medicore singers at best. Common thread is they are brilliant song writers. Not singers.
............well kurt cobain and tom petty are dead, so
for those that aren't getting the reference
Singing is more than having a pretty voice. Much more.
Pretty much everyone I've met that attended a Dylan concert said they are bad. Without fail they make it sound like he seemed to have no desire to even be there.
Saw Dylan at Burrus in 2001 or 02. Literally thought he was going to die on stage. Govt Mule played too - so that was cool.
He asks, "10 dollars ?"
Crowd: "No!"
Martin: "5 dollars?"
Crowd: "No!"
Martin: "one dollar????"
Crowd: "Yay!"
Martin: "well here's a one dollar show!" and he gives the one finger salute, lol
I was thinking Michael Murphy (Wildfire) opened for him (or vice-versa) but that might have been a separate event...it was about that timeframe.
Found my ticket stub from Springsteen @ Burruss in April 1976. Also, Robin Trower & Nils Logfren @ Cassell, 11/4/77.
He didn't lose his talents with age........ Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers
Saw them at Burruss! One of the best shows I've ever seen. Steve Martin is supremely talented.
Needs to play both sides, wearing #2 on offense, #10 on defense, and also wrestle at 210 lbs.
Dang I keep clicking back in the thread b/c I seen new comments only see them talking about past concerts etc at tech.....we are in the off-season....
I saw Vanilla Ice in concert at Burruss...
I saw Living Colour in concert at Burruss, a little while back...
Was about to say that, bud. That concert was lit.
I saw vanilla ice cream at Dietrick hall.
If you (or anyone else) are craving offseason content, French just posted a 2,000 word, 9-play film review of an impact transfer, who just happens to be Tuten. Get fully dipped in TKPC to start the year and enjoy unique content.
Darn Tuten!
I saw Charlie Daniels Band, followed by Molly Hatchet in Cassell, Fall 1980. One of the most kick-ass concerts ever.
Jesus, undergrad me would need a fifth of Jack just to properly pre-game for that concert.
You'd need a fifth of Jack so you wouldn't remember hearing them? 🥁 🥁 🐍 /s
With that approach, I daresay you'd be flirtin' with disaster.
Jethro Tull in Cassell in 1972. Damn I'm old.
Wild that all these big names used to come to town.
I saw Matisyahu at Burruss in 2008, and I wasn't there but I remember Maroon 5 coming in spring 2010. And of course, the Concert for Virginia Tech which made me a lifelong John Mayer fan.
Who has there been in the last, uh...13 years?
I saw Matisyahu at the Lyric in 2005 just as he was making a name for himself. I was in VTU while in school (2003-2006) so got to see most of the shows on campus, the first being Black Eyed Peas. A few I remember were Something Corporate, OAR, Hoobastank, Ludacris, Jason Mraz, Reel Big Fish, and 311. I'm sure there were more, but my memory isn't what it used to be lol
Saw Old Crow Medicine Show there in '14. They were awesome. Played a ton of songs and probably to this day, the only concert I've been to that had a legit encore and not just the walk off stage, wait, and come back play their biggest song.
They did the manufactured encore with Wagon Wheel but people just didn't leave and were loud so they came back and played "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"
Now were these shows in Burrus or Squires for anybody post 90's.
This one was in Burrus. I think there were a few in Squires here and there, but generally the bigger acts were still in Burrus. I think The Chainsmokers played in Squires right before they got really big. Maybe spring of 2015?
Saw James Taylor in Cassell in 1981.
Found this webpage listing of concerts from just before my stint at VT.
http://that70sblacksburg.blogspot.com/2011/06/concerts.html
I saw Bill Cosby in Burruss when I was a student (2011-ish). Not something I brag about these days though.
Also saw Kevin Hart. He was terrible. Did like 15 minutes. Had 3 openers who were OK and combined for about 75 minutes of material.
Greg Giraldo (RIP) and Michael Ian Black were a great show.
Bill Cosby in his prime was incredibly funny. What he did off the stage was nothing to be proud of.
I saw Adam Sandler at Burruss around '94. I just happened to be walking through squires when tickets were on sale. By the time I got to my dorm and told my buddies, the show was already sold out. I remember him being hilarious.
Anybody else see Mark Curry open for Bob Saget? I'm glad I got to see Saget do a stand up set.
Homecoming week, 2004? Yeah. Saget was stellar.
Best show I saw at tech was reel big fish in the commonwealth ballroom.
I saw BB King at Burrus. It wasn't much of a show, but I can say I got to see him before he passed.
Then there was the concert for vt. Mayer was great and didn't play a bunch of the "your body is a wonderland" crap. Dave Matthews was abysmal.
I wonder if I was there when RBF played? I feel like I would have gone to that. I saw Hot Rod Circuit, Bayside, Murder by Death, and Juliany Theory play a show at the Commonwealth Ballroom. Killer night.
I think Dave Matthews thought he was doing everyone a favor by playing for close to 4 hours, but they only played like 10 songs in the 4 hours. Jam band sonsabitches. They needed to play 40 songs in 4 hours and they would have still had plenty of time for jammin, but good god they just kept going.
We left during his set. Mayer had already melted my face off anyway, so I didn't feel like I was missing much
RBF was Fall 2004
Well shit. I was there in 04. I was probably working or something.
I disagree, that set was amazing. The life long fans would do criminal things to see that show. I still have a bootleg, downloaded it as so as I could find the upload. Great mix of his radio stuff and the deeper stuff that the regular crowd loves. Worked in Mayer on #41 and Nas on Eh Hee as well. Not even shown on the set list and maybe improvised was a Three Little Birds cover. I am gonna go find it and listen to it again now.
The Three Little Birds cover was great.
If you don't like bands that jam on the same song for half the concert, don't ever see Greensky Bluegrass live.
I like some of the early DMB stuff and he definitely has a few good songs, but I generally can't stand them. The hype around them is bigger than their actual quality. Just awful jam band rubbish IMO. Don't understand the cult of Dave.
I'm a fan because of the quality of musicianship and the Virginia ties and the first handful of studio albums were really good. I even like the Dave solo album. More so than some of those first five DMB studio albums.
I enjoyed seeing DMB for the first and only time live. But after so much I was done.
Graded at .8900 from 247.

Would have been 92 or 93 had he signed with UGA. Bullcaca!
