Streak ended against UVA but started up again against Klempson. Only ones that surprised me were Boston College and Syracuse. All the others were expected to be a couple possession games and were except UVA. But that's not shocking at flashing light JPJ on any day. Just ask UNC who has now lost at UVA a school record eight times in a row.

Why can Pedulla suddenly play defense?

Not sure if it's their best half in an ACC game or if Duke is just much worse than I thought already. Definitely their best shooting half. Possibly best of the season.
Also has been Kidd and Poteat getting more time that I have been asking for. 0 minutes for Maddux. He needs to get his game figured out.

Was thinking the same thing....and was cursing up a storm when my laptop got screwy. I admit I was more pissed because I spent the time doing the writeup for a team playing this poorly to see that time completely wasted.
Seems like they figured out offense for a night although the defense is still pretty spotty. Duke doing whatever they want in the paint so if not for 70% from 3 the Hokies are probably losing at the half.

Happy to see a half like this but in the closing minutes our 13 pt lead ended at 7. We missed 3 FT's in that stretch. I hope our Hokies come out and play it out in the 2nd half. Please Lord Baby Jesus

He's just not an ACC caliber player. He could or even should be a lot better but for whatever reason he just isn't.

It's the lack of consistency that really frustrates me about him. He can put up points, and then just have stretches of absolute pants shitting play that allows the opponent to put us on our heels. It's head scratching sometimes, as I said, he could or should be better, but man...

Rob- Was there last night in 4th row and watched condensed game... thought Mutts was just not good defensively vs Filipowski. Got broken down off dribble, helped off on strong side to give up 3's, one poor hustle play where he left him open... Went from 5 down to five up with him out. I thought Basile was more effective defensively. What's your take on Mutt's D.
He has definitely not been the active defender he was last season but I am not sure if that's because last year he was the off ball help side defender more and is the primary defender in our games this season. It would effect his positioning, his posture and the quality of the opponent he matches up on.
Either way he seems slow to force his man into decisions which has made him more likely to be in the wrong spot or likely to get whistled for a foul compensating.
Last night Basile had some monster moments on both ends. Problem there is that he isn't consistent. It can be game to game but even possession to possession. That also put the other bigs, Mutts included in a bind not knowing what to expect from him play to play.
