I'm no fan of FSU, but this made me laugh, especially because LOLUVa went on to lose after a 27-8 fourth quarter collapse. Also, I think both players should have been charged with "fighting fouls."
Duke fans should look at this to know what an intentional fighting foul really is.

Sorry Dave, but we just don't have enough stove top stuffing.
This reminded me of

Listen I'm anti loluva but Florida states girl leg locked brunelle's ankle purposefully. She deserved at least a little retaliation. I don't think what Sam did was over the top.
I can't disagree with any of this. Still, though, that's not a smart way for Sam to get her 5th foul.
and a one game suspension which kept her from playing against ND, her alma mater. LOLUVa got blown out 76-54, which, I gotta say, is a real kick in the baby maker.
Yeah I wanted to be all offended by the loluva player, but fsu at the very least had it coming.
Looked more like that natural reaction everyone has when a yappy dog is trying to bite or fuck their ankle. Dumb when you're on 4, but I can't say that she should have reacted differently.
Meh, take a page from soccer and fall down yourself. No need to be kicking someone Ndamukong Su style. She was already upset she set a pick and got hit in the face, which isn't the F$U girls fault. She did it, and got caught.
Agreed. If she just lets the trip play out and goes down, she probably gets the FSU player ejected and the game maybe plays out differently. Bejedi went on to put up 7 more points (four at the line) and post a rebound. When you lose by 9 and miss the chance for your second leading scorer of the game to put up a couple more points, this matters.
I don't fully agree on the soccer take. (I digress on diving). I get what you're going after, but the victim/acting part there by the FSU player annoys me.
She got leg locked. Retaliation isn't the perfect answer but I get why she did it.
Victim/acting...before or after she was punted?
Before? she's not playing any victim or acting. Was she locking her legs? Maybe, after the first attempt of the loluva girl to get free. Initially I think they are just tangled, and when Brunelle feels her foot trapped she goes way over the top. And the FSU girl locks in for good.
After? she got punted! Playing the victim? Who cares. They reviewed the tape, and whether it was Oscar or Razzie worthy, the act was still there. The reaction had zero to do with the foul call. And Brunelle was punished for it.
AND....by this logic, when someone's arm is locked fighting for a rebound, a flying elbow is in order? No...no way. She punted the girl, got caught, and was punished for it. Leg locking a foot is not deserving of that. No way.
I can never advise acting like a soccer player flopping. It was a dumb move by the UVA player but if someone is grabbing at my ankles, I am going to kick free too.
My point being if she falls down, the only foul called is on F$U. But after she did what she did, she got her 5th, was disqualified from the game, is going to miss the next one, and took out her presence in the F$U game. Maybe loluva would have lost anyway, but that action changed the course of the game and led to an L for sure.
Everyone that says they would have kicked as well, just be prepared for the repercussions of the fighting foul, the one game suspension, and whatever occurs in the locker room/practice between you and the coach after that.
Blasted her
Katy kicking other characters in the crotch should have been more of a trope than they made it...

Yeah, but she can't just go around kicking people. She saved it for the people who really needed it.
For the record, the official name for the act is a cunt punt.
The FSU girl had a smug little grin on her face as the other girl got ejected...
also did the double wave. Hell of a thing to start a fight and then get to mock the other player getting ejected with no additional penalty...
If I was ref, they would have both been ejected. UVA only for that little kick, but FSU was going her best to trip her. Ankles locked behind her leg, twisting, etc.
I am not a fighter. However, if a grown man did that little double wave to me, I think I'd have no choice but to kick his ass.
If a grown man does that wave to someone else I would have a hard time holding myself back. Some things just earn you an ass whuppin.
Does a grown man give that wave? /S
Let's just say that it would be highly irregular, and therefore particularly insulting...
I've seen it, actually. Usually after ejections/disqualifications, game winners, and playoff eliminations. (Edit: Not usually two-handed though.)
So what you're saying is that we probably shouldn't use this toward you going forward?
Too bad we didn't have this back when Bender and Shockwave were causing trouble.
Haha, the gif is great since it's at Uva's expense.
I find it incredibly unsportsmanlike no matter whom is the target.
Remember, we're still talking about FSU. Florida State University
Simmah Nole Down, Now!
Edit: I hate to side with UVa, but seriously, #4 grabbed #33's leg, and then pretended she was in extreme pain. I gotta call horseshit on that. If you're going to eject someone for fighting, they both have to go. Particularly after the cutsie "buh-bye" wave.
Sometimes when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
Agreed. I have a hard time faulting UVa for reacting that way even if it was technically wrong. I can't say for sure I would have been the better person in that situation either. Seems weird to only eject UVa in that context.
FSU player totally deserved that intentional foul, but UVA also deserved that ejection. The retaliation almost always gets the call, she should have flopped herself to the ground while lifting her leg up to exacerbate the trip and hold, probably would have landed a Technical on FSU with the new hook and hold rules, got free throws to close the gap, and the ball back. Kicking a player that blatantly is going you Grayson Allen'd.
If you retaliate, you're getting called. It's the first thing they teach you in sports and elementary school.
I agree that I would not have necessarily acted better than the UVA player did, but I also would have considered "accidentally" falling onto the FSU player with a pointed elbow for that leg lock.
It is a bit of a comical situation all around though based on the absurdity.
The Florida State player deserved a second Unsportsmanlike penalty for taunting which would have also come with ejection.
