The refs were wildly inconsistent last night. They started very ticky tacky and then let UVA get away with murder for a while. UVA was flopping so much, that when they legit got charged (we did it) the refs didn't call anything.

Liz is a great player but lacks the toughness in many ACC games to be the center of the offense. Gregg and Soule ran a high low in the post very well last night. There have been games where Liz has disappeared on offense after getting pushed around; running from block to block, not fighting for position and residing to setting ball screens.

Yes her reliance on the 8 foot drop shot and being consistently out of position to rebound is pretty frustrating. She definitely doesn't handle rough play well. Hopefully Brooks takes note and finds ways to keep Gregg and Soule together for stretches going forward.

Watching the game last night, I had a couple thoughts.
1. UVA had basically no fans for an in state rivalry game. The section in front of me (behind their bench) normally reserved for UVA team family tickets was completely empty.
2. Team prepped up down Kitley and played hard. Amore wore several Hoo's out, they were having to sub regularly to try and keep up with her.
3. ACC refs have trouble figuring out travel calls or apparently use it to make up calls when they feel they might have missed a foul or want to close up a score.
4. Lastly looking a 13-1 record for UVA I was very worried with no Kitley. Know I know why they weren't ranked despite being 13-1...

Blacked out in my area, but was able to catch the replay late. ACC refs suck. No idea how many times Soule got hit in the face without a review, and the charge/blocking fouls were so inconstant it was unbelievable. The commentators would having a hard time not trashing them. At lease they were just guessing the calls both ways. It's good win only because it's LOLUVA, but they are not that good. Nice move by Brooks to go a zone to conserve energy with a short bench, and awesome job of the ladies rebounding defensively in the second half out of the zone. The UVA coach seemed to make terrible substitution decisions.

The Soule thing was BAD ... The worst one was where she had the inside position on a free throw rebound, got elbowed in the face and then they whistled her for the foul as she was hitting the floor from the elbow.

Happened right in front of where I was sitting. We were shouting at the refs. Yeah, I know it does more harm then good... but it feels good in the moment.

Kitley doesn't look like she is going to play. Wearing black and didn't take part in shoot around.
Brooks has like 6/7 players he can turn to tonight for minutes. Not great.
UVA playing a lot of players and we don't have a lot of players. Fatigue could be a factor at the end of this game. But currently VT up 42-36.
Wow girls getting thrown to floor no whistle. Ticky tack whistles all over though

Huge rainmaker from Amoore to end 3rd
Really wish Brooks would press
When the announcers call it a Rugby Match...you know it's rough.
Double double for Gregg
4 of 5 starters in double figures
King with 9 to just miss out.
Without Kitley they were more effective in the paint offensively than normal.

Totally agree. She is pretty good against no name teams, but really gets pushed around against better teams.

4. Yeah their 13-1 only had one semi quality win over Minnesota. The rest of it was an illusion that the voters saw through.
