Heavy emphasis on this being not official and coming from sources, but there are apparently TWO inbound bids of $6B ea. Normally I wouldn't care about the sale of a franchise but 1) Snyder needs to be shown the door, and 2) Washington deserves better. Every franchise deserves better than what Snyder has done. It makes me sick that he's going to profit, but I'm happy that this might actually happen and he'll be gone.

Unfortunately, he's done a pretty good job of destroying any affection I had for that team.
He took something I Ioved and ruined it. I hate him and I hope all the bad things in life happen to him and no one else.
As a life long Redskins fan (in my mid 40's), this is the news I've been waiting to hear for a loooooong time. Dan Snyder can go suck on a rock.
I already had a low opinion of Snyder, but with all of the news and other tidbits coming out over the last few months, it seems that no matter how bad a person you think he is....he's actually much worse.
For sure, I hated him before I knew he was actually a total scumbag. Fuck that guy for destroying my childhood NFL team to the point I no longer even care about them.
I'm glad everyone can now have a good reason to hate him, not just Washington football fans.
Basically since the Cooks sold the team.
It will be interesting to see if Bezos finally joins the fray too! I don't care who ends up with it as long as it isn't Dan Snyder lol
I'll believe it when I see it, but if it happens it may be the single greatest DC sports moment of the last 3 decades.
Nationals and Capitals would like a word.
Honestly though, I think the city would throw a parade if he sold the team.
I am aware, but I think there's a serious case for my statement to be accurate. And I'm a caps fan.
sure, your subjective statement is accurate because its your opinion. I think getting the Nats franchise and Nats winning the world series are the two greatest moments in the past 3 decades for Washington Sports. I also think the drafting and the extension signing of Ovechkin, and the Stanley cup are also above this moment.
Don't forget DC United. 3 titles in the late 90s. Wayne Rooney, and one of the coolest stadiums in Metro DC.
Stadium shared by the undefeated DC Defenders to boot. Best place in town for sports right now.
The Braves are in town for Opening Weekend to play the Nationals.... you'll find me there.

Fantastic use of a gif. Leg.
I'm just waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under me. I've fallen for this too many times. I need Snyder exiled to an inhabitable island, and that's still too good for him.
do you mean uninhabitable?
Sure do. I type before my brain processes. I shall not edit. I accept my hat with pride.

Inhabitable, uninhabitable, whatever it takes.
Fuck the island. I used to beg Snyder's private pilot (we're buddies) to crash Redskins One into the middle of the Atlantic with Dan on board.
He considered it. Said Dan Snyder was the biggest asshole to work for. He can become fish food.
Remember when he cut down the trees on national park land so he'd have a better view of the Potomac from his house?
Remember when he installed "limited view" seats at FedEx when the stadium had a 10 year waiting list? And then later had to remove seats because the stadium wasn't selling out?
I had season tickets, the stadium was sold out for years, yet if I sold them I couldn't break even on the cost.
He's certainly something. He ruined the winning tradition of the Redskins while making attendance at games a miserable experience.
You forget where he had a park ranger fired so he could cut down trees
park ranger fired
sobecause he could cut down trees...Had him exiled and ultimately fired. Piece of trash.

Why do you want to kill the fishes? What did they ever do to you?
I'm not saying kill the fishes, I'm saying if Dan drowned I'd applaud.
I do kill and eat fish on occasion, but release 99% of what I catch.
My comment was more toward the suggestion that Snyder become fish food. Why would you wish the fishes would eat that garbage? Hopefully if the fishes tried to eat that they would spit it out quickly...
"Hopefully if the fishes tried to eat that they would spit it out quickly..."
That's what the bass having been doing to my fishing lure's lately!
Oh wait! I thought this was the fishing thread! My bad!
lol
Ah I gotcha, my bad!
Valid point, but I'd counter that all sorts of trash has been found inside of Tiger Sharks. Sure wouldn't mind if Dan Snyder got eaten by one of those...
Sharks
Can the sharks just rip him to shreds?
We can all hope
He's supposedly moving to England....that's basically an island.
Not nearly disconnected-from-the-rest-of-the-world enough.
I was thinking more along the lines of "deserted".
Maybe have the team from the show "Yellowjackets" visit.
Maybe he'll buy Tottenham Hotspurs and destroy them too. Arsenal fans can only hope.
Anybody else laughing slightly at the Lamar Jackson debacle? He is holding out for a contract that no one will give him and turned down a contract with $175 million in guarantees (for injury, $150 otherwise).
He's going to realize he should have had an agent eventually. He will get way less than what the Ravens were already willing to give him, and he may not have a choice but to take that lower number from the Ravens themselves.
I'm not laughing at him because he seems like a decent guy, unlike that scum Watson that broke the QB market with the Browns being so stupid, but Jackson really did not read the situation correctly.
I question the intelligence of anyone that doesn't have an agent AND attorney for any financial matter more complicated than a credit application. and even then in some cases. He is a fool. Those contracts are full of complex legal language that protect the ones writing them- the owners.
Reminds me of the old saying:
If you think its expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur.
Or even worse, a lawyer.
/s
Now imagine hiring an amateur law talker guy
I've sat on a jury where the defendant was a Sovereign Citizen.
I earned that $15 jury pay.
that must have been fun
I've had more fun sorting sand by color and size in the Upper Quad volleyball pit.
SovCit? Oooof.
On the bright side, it could provide some entertainment, at least.
Please tell me he tried to use the corporation of the United States argument as part of his I don't recognize your authority defense.
Or challenging the technical definitions of every single word.
And did he ever bring up a can of artichokes.
As a total non-law speak understanding citizen, what does any of this mean?
A Sovereign Citizen in loose terms is an American citizen that does not recognize the US government and its laws as governing unless the citizen expressly consents to them. So a Sovereign Citizen doesn't recognize the court or its jurisdiction, so when they are on trial they believe the court has no right to do anything.
While it doesn't have to be an American and the US government it is primarily a US thing.
For the corporate thingy I assume the refer to and FDR order where the president has power to create jobs for things to combat unemployment and to help revitalize industries that are important to the success of the US. There were many of these projects like the Tennessee Valley Authority and others that built a lot of infrastructure and helped the US get out of the great depression. So the US can create and agency that is a corporation to do things like that. Anything other than referencing that and misconstruing what that means I have no clue.
Apparently, there's more to it than that. They believe that the common law legal system that was originally set up by the Founding Fathers has been illegally replaced by a "commercial law" (read: "admiralty law"), leading SovCits to believe that U.S. judges and lawyers to actually be agents of a foreign power. As a result, they don't feel constrained to be bound by the current US legal system. /shrug

I've never encountered a SovCit personally, but recently saw an episode of The Rookie where Castle encounters one (S4 E8), and their portrayal does track with what the Wikipedia page above describes. Crazy shit.
Oh those guys that took over the federal bird sanctuary were all Sovereign Citizens. I also have never met one face to face but real life tracks with craziness.
I think he is in a tough spot. They owners are fighting the guaranteed contracts tooth and nail, but you can bet Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert are going to be looking for big guarantees too. Lamar knows this and the Ravens have to know this, so it's a game of Chicken, Ravens want to secure a QB before the market is shocked next year, but want to keep guarantees down, Lamar wants to lock in a long term deal and wants similar guarantees to what lesser credentialed QBs will get next year. As QB needy as teams are, I am surprised not other team has stepped in to steal him away as the bad blood builds. Would Lamar hold out if the Ravens don't budge?
The Ravens offered him a 5 year deal worth $250, with $150 guaranteed or $175 guaranteed due to injury. He turned it down... 99% of the QB's out there would have taken that offer and run with it. He needs an agent to smack him on the back side of the head and say take the deal.
Instead he is tagged with the non-exclusive tag for $32 million and learning that nobody else really wants him that badly. He has shown he doesn't know how to play ball negotiating for over 2 years now.
He wants the $250 fully guaranteed, but has a history of injury. Missing 11 games over the last 2 years both times during the playoff runs hasn't helped his negotiating position. Not to mention that much money plus 2 first round picks, I just don't see anybody else that desperate.
idk man, franchise tag for $32 million or get paid fifty bucks a year with only thirty guaranteed... π
That seems great now, and he needs to be more realistic with his injury history, but wait until Burrow and Herbert get their $45 million a year guaranteed deals. Then Lamar going to be all sad Panda.
I think the other owners are going to continue to hold the Browns deal as a bad deal and not offer fully guaranteed. The other big contracts since haven't been either.
Yeah Snyder is a douche. Pretty sure I mentioned this before but my sister knew a girl that dated him before he was married.
She asked my brother in law to wear flats, he's like 6'2", bc Dan was insecure about his height. It's like dude he's gonna tower over you anyways.
He later went one day to help that girl move out of Snyder's place while Snyder was out of town bc she said she just had to get out of their and he would let her leave while he was around.
This goes beyond being a douche, but with the whole sex trafficking cheerleaders thing I'm not surprised.
Anonymous source(s) are reporting that a sale is imminent. $6B is the bid, allegedly, from the group headed by Josh Harris (also owner of the 76ers and NJ Devils).
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/36179625/sources-snyders-deal-sell-w...
There were also reports earlier today that Bezos would NOT be putting a bid in for the team.
I won't fully believe that Bezos is off the table until the winning bid is officially announced.
Looks like it'll take at least 5 1/2 weeks, per the article.
At the risk of touching a last Snyder nerve in Commanders fans, I wonder how that will impact the draft?
Good question. I'm not sure what the league policies are on external business interests in providing direction to ownership, but I have to imagine the new ownership has laid out some specifics of what they do and do not want to see. Hell, their offer could include specific language and terms pertaining to the draft that could invalidate the whole bid (or discounts the bid) if the Commanders ownership violates them.
4/18 Update - NFL is apparently reviewing the sale, and then we have this:
'Bye Dan' beer created to mark Commanders' possible sale sells out at Virginia brewery
Old Ox apparently sold out of the first batch in just over an hour, and they are brewing another.
I wonder how many are drinking this beer, or saving it to keep on their shelf? My brother for many years had an unopened can of JR beer (from Dallas) that sat on his shelf; it was a good conversation starter.

I have one of these. I always get questions about it. Definitely not going to drink it.
