Pry-ssr Sleepy Chestnut Hill 2023

  • "Obviously excited about the trip to Boston college" 🤷 at least someone is I guess.
  • Castellanos is a tough, gritty QB.
  • Good size up front. BC adds 1-2 lineman in some packages including #44 (6-4 318lbs) lined up at TE.
  • BC's successful games have come from ball control on offense and complimentary defense. We need to play sound defense to keep them off the field.
  • Temperament and confidence of VT affected our ability to keep up with Louisville. Pry didn't feel like effort was the problem. He took responsibility for being the person that needs to get the team in the right mindset for games.
  • "No, I don't love [the transfer portal]. Love is a strong word. I reserve that for my wife, children, family, and Virginia Tech football."
  • Compares the transfer portal to targeting and how challenging both have been to coaches. Says that he has embraced the portal as part of the game, but that it is challenging.
  • Lots of other good insight throughout this press conference on the portal, roster retention, and the parity seen in college football recently.

Injury updates

  • Unlikely that Jennings returns in regular season right now.
  • Fuga and Stroman questionable. Pry feels better about Fuga
  • Great to have Wells healthy (about 90%). "There's no question this is Kyron's offense right now."

I liked this prysser because it wasn't so singular game focused lots of good bigger picture questions asked an answered.

(add if applicable) /s

Pry doesn't coach-speak as much as most, but I've watched enough of these that I can usually predict his answers to the softball questions. It's nice when the media guys mix it up a little bit since Pry isn't as reserved or prickly as some we've had in Blacksburg.

Seriously, I'd wear that t-shirt.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

  • Terrible mic for this one, so I had to guess the context for a few of these responses.
  • Getting a win this way on the road is exciting for the coaches and the players. You could tell they were ready by the look in their eye before the game.
  • Pry commends his security detail. Anybody have an idea why?
  • Adjusted pregame routine the evening and morning before the game. Keeping the changes internal to the team.
  • Stealing possessions from BC was important to keep them from eating up the clock.
  • We have to be aggressive, when we are we do better. 😱 Shocking concept.
  • Lawson was spying the QB most of the game.
  • The team will be focused on NC State and sending the seniors out the right way. Don't need to talk about bowl eligibility, the players obviously know.

QB spy seems like the perfect role for Lawson right now, hopefully he's wraps his head around the whole defense and puts that freaky athleticism to devastating use next year.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

His entire off-season needs to be practicing gap fill and block shedding

And doing squats

"That's it guys. Let's get out of here. That cold drink's waitin' on us, let's go." - Mike Young after win no. 300.

I really want to know the dope on the security detail.

Hafley had one of these on at the post-game handshake, but security sniffed it out

uva - the taint of the ACC
Callused perineum is a symptom of being a uva fan

Now I really want a coach to do this...gotta be Nardouche, right?
