Kansas Hoops - Yesterday 10/11/23- given slap on the wrist

For a seven year investigation, where the FBI found their assistant coaches gave bribes and paid players. This was announced yesterday- Self - no punishment of course- no show cause, etc. And the program gets 3 years probation. Oklahoma State, many others got much stiffer penalties for less. Found this news that came out on 10/11/23 very interesting.

Other people cheated, so I guess it was OK. /s

Yes, they should get actual penalties. It should cost them money. Some penalty should have been assessed.

Why? Because it was against the rules. And that's how rules are enforced.

Of course other programs got worse they don't make Kansas money for the NCAA.

Big Kansas fan. Not sorry. Have to take down a banner. Big deal. Cheating? Who isn't? This is a commentary on how clueless, feckless, and just downright worthless the NCAA is any more. Why do they exist? Anyone?

I hate rude behavior in a man. Won't tolerate it.

one click shows Wagoneer's been around TKP for 7 years. Sheesh. Everyone take a nap, have a snickers or something.

This is my point. Pry should pay Chris Cole 1.5 million dollars to come here next year . Why the fuck not? Bill self does- unapologetically. We should too.

Why the fuck not?

Because we might not have the $1.5m?

But, I agree. We should be playing the players. We paid Tyrod. We gave DW a suped up car. Make it rain.

I had not heard that we paid Tyrod Taylor a bag? you have any more details?

I don't know if we paid to land him (I assume we did since he was a 5-star), but I do know that once he got on campus, he was taken care of. Source: I was introduced to the guy who was his runner/fixer/amateur agent by a student employee of the football team.

What does "taken care of" mean specifically?

IYKYK

That's like... OUR ENTIRE NIKE DEAL!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

the FBI found their assistant coaches gave bribes and paid players.

There were only 4 coaches charged - Oklahoma State's Lamont Evans, Auburn's Chuck Person, Arizona's Emanuel Richardson and USC's Tony Bland - and no one else from the schools (I think there was some guy at Adidas charged too).

Lot of nothing here. Pay the players as much as they can get.

You do realize that "pay the players" is still not legal in college sports? you realize that? VT can not pay Kyrone Drones. That is against NCAA rules and the US tax code too not to mention. My point is that Bill Self can pay players though - because he is a scum bag cheater. Fact. So Pry should pay Drones cash. Kansas does it, and it NBD. Pay Tuten cash- like Bruce Pearl does- NBD. Pry can suspend himself for the first 3 games next year like Harbaugh did. It's such a fucking joke. And some people want more of it- more NFL football.

Yes - I understand the difference between NIL and being a university employee.

And some people want more of it- more NFL football.

As someone who watches maybe 3 NFL games each season, I don't believe that making players employees will turn CFB into the NFL. I think it's franchising model that stifles creativity. As long as teams can embrace their regional, whacky, unique culture, I think the spirit of CFB can and will be preserved.

VT should be pioneers in this- beat Sarkisian, Hubert Davis and Juwan Howard to the punch for once. We should have our players negotiate directly with ESPN for marketing deals, airtime, etc. Like mini-Pat McAfee's. It won't be like the NFL, nah. Can you imagine the cut away's from game day? Here is OUR guy Kyrone Drones warming up for VT. etc. We have an opportunity here to beat Bill Self to the gutter.

VT should be pioneers in this

White already talked about this on multiple podcasts.

This would be so cool.

Poor Pittsburg State. They're gonna get hammered soon.
