Seeing in several spots that he is in.

One of the ton of athletes we got in last year's class. Thought it was interesting we chose to put him at RB, but we also had 8 DB's and 4 WR's already in that class. And it was clear Coney, Mason and probably Prioleau are already ahead of him there

I'm not losing sleep over a backup RB transfer. However, he was someone that I was interested in because of his elite track speed at the position. I felt like he needed time to develop his body (more of a WR frame) to play RB at the college level so I didn't think he'd be on portal watch this early in his career.

This certainly feels like the new normal given the current landscape. It's just too easy to transfer in the hopes of finding playing time right away. The days of guys sticking it out and developing at a program are probably over. I would expect somewhere around 30% or more of starters across college football to be transfers.

I mean I think the landscape of our team is probably playing into this a lot. I'm not sure when Pry recruited these guys he knew that he was going to return pretty much his entire starting roster. That basically pushed a lot of guys looking at getting more touches back a year and everyone behind them back too not to mention we were like 4 or 5 over the the scholarship limit.

Agree, this looks more like a VT roster management cut. There are scholarship limits and VT was over. And agree, that's no surprise considering the size of the 2023 recruit/transfer class and the retention into 2024.

There are not many backup upperclassmen on the roster right now that can leave to open up those scholarship spots, so it is pretty clear that the "scholarship cuts" would necessarily need to be underclassmen.

And if VT gets some portal transfers in, I'm pretty sure they'll need some further attrition too.

I think kids are on portal watch the second they issue their "committed" status on the Twittergram.
