Why are you posting a 15 yard penalty /s
underrated comment
Texas A&M Commerce loves giving our former LB's the DC position.
And for that I wish them all the best.
Sounds so much like a euphemism, but I'll be damned if I know what for.
Just means Jack Tyler will be a Defensive Analyst back with the Hokies following in Adibi's footsteps.
At least we can Big Dawg Texas A&M Commerce!
Jack Tyler was a badass. I put him in the same echelon as Ben Taylor.
Jack Tyler never punted
I'm not sure anyone was in Ben Taylor's class.
That second hit unfortunately is likely targeting and ejection these days. Even though IMO it's a clean hit, it's just a nasty collision. Game has gotten so soft, getting harder and harder to play good D.
With throws like those, Greg Muckerson's QB hated Greg Muckerson.
Where does Jack Tyler rank on the all-time Hokie walk-on list?
Was Rivers a walk-on?
behind Sam, Jarrett Ferguson, engelberger, Montgomery to start
EDaiat: Grimm too
Very high, but he's got to be behind at least Cody Grimm, John Engelberger and Sam Rogers.
Edit: meant as a reply to SLoP above.
Jack Tyler was a much better player than Sam Rogers. I said it.
You've finally gone too far DC!
Just kidding it's a fair opinion. I would argue that Jack Tyler was an outstanding LB, but that Sam Rogers is the best fullback Beamer ever had (with apologies to Brian Edmunds).
FTFY
I love Sam. especially how much he improved over time. Remember he played as a true frosh when we had McKenzie, etc. He became a very very good player. I respect that. Jack Tyler- you could argue was the best player on some elite defenses though.
Ferguson belongs in that conversation too
DC isn't wrong here. Sam was a stopgap who gave his all to VT. He was playing because we didn't have anyone better, and did a fair job of it. He was one of the best options on our team, but far from the top of the conference.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2017 NFL draft. Rogers wasn't a just scrappy dude getting by on hustle. He was a pretty damn good football player.
He was good. I didn't say he wasn't. I'm just saying he wasn't effective on the level of some of the others mentioned. He essentially played tailback for us, in the absence of other options. He absolutely wasn't drafted as a tailback.
I hear his wife is pretty qualified, too. Director of Team Operations for the College Football Playoff. Quite the power couple.
She was a central piece of staff at Tech.
