It was quite the week in international swimming for the Hokies. Team set 28 National records in events this week.

I meant to throw something up about the world championships. Swimming and Diving sends out great emails detailing results and what current Hokies and alumni are up to. Other results:

Carles Coll Marti (Spain) - busy man
-100 IM - 5th
-200 IM - DNS
-200 Breaststroke - WINNER
-4x50m medley relay - Spain finished 2nd in their heat and didn't make it to the finals but 3 of the 4 swimmers for Spain are Hokies.
-4x100m Mixed Medley relay - 6th with 3 of 4 Hokies for Spain.
-4Γ—100m Men's medley relay - 5th in their heat and didn't advance to the final, but 3 of 4 were Hokies here too.

-50m Backstroke - 9th in her heat
-100m Backstroke - 7th in the final
-200m Backstroke - 5th in the final
-4x50m mixed freestyle relay - Spain won their heat but didn't advance

Emily Santos (Panama)
-100m Breaststroke- 3rd in her heat but didn't advance
-200m Breaststroke-won her heat but didn't have a fast enough time to make the final.

AJ Pouch (USA)
200m Breaststroke- 6th
4x100m mens medley relay - US got 2nd and AJ swam in the heat but not the final.
4x50m mixed medley relay - US got 3rd and AJ swam in the heat but not the final
4x100m mixed medley relay - US got 2nd and AJ swam in the heat with set a new American record.

-50m freestyle- 5th in the semifinal heat and just missed qualifying for the final

-4x100m mens freestyle relay - Hong Kong finished 9th in their heat
