And another 49ers assistant coach is headed to Washington. San Francisco's assistant defensive line coach Darryl Tapp — who played defensive end and linebacker in Washington in 2013 during his 12 NFL seasons — is taking over as the Commanders defensive line coach, per sources. https://t.co/1dNCvMz44k— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 14, 2024
Still remember the day I listened to Darryl talking to Bud and asking him about any connections he had to break into the coaching world after retiring.

Good time to be getting out of San Fran. They nuts. Not to mention it is probably cheaper to live in or around Washington than San Fran.
No shit. Firing Steve Wilks? Absolutely insane decision
Assuming same salary and living in VA (near Ashburn), it would be half the income tax and 50-80% more home per sq ft. Ashburn has expensive home prices, but bay area is ridiculous.
So, pretty significant pay raise.
San Fran is crazy, but no NFL coach is worried about the cost of living anywhere in America.
The average assistant coach makes something like $400-500K. The difference between between SF and NoVA will be about $25K in income taxes annually and about $15-$30K in mortgage + property taxes (or live in a much bigger home). Worried no. But anyone would like take pad their bank account with an extra $40K a year.
Packing up the lunch pail and bringing it home.
Congratulations to Darryl, he is now a guy that people call for help breaking into the coaching world. Awesome to see.
Great move for the Commanders. Just don't try to the take the lunch pail from him.
So 10 years from now, when we get Big Dogged and Alabama or Ohio State take Pry from us - after he has given us to 8 10-win seasons, 2 ACC Championships, 3 playoff appearances and 1 national championship, of course - Tapp can take over as the new head coach to keep the ball rolling, right?
I'd Tapp that
Valentine's thread is that way, sir.
