So here's my question: Will Kitley be 1st team All-America? I was comparing her stats nationally, and no one else really matches her combination of scoring and rebounding.
Follow up question: Is Kitley the ACC Player of the Year?
Should she? Absolutely. Will she? Nope. They'll find some SEC center to fawn over and claim that it's not about who is deserving but who is really best...
I will be truly offended if some SEC center is named ACC player of the year.
ACC POY is going to come down to her and the Notre Dame freshman Hannah Hidalgo.
All American 1st team if it was voted on requiring X number of Forward/Center would likely be a lock but unfortunately they don't. She was on the Pre-Season AP All American squad that had six players.
Kitley currently 11th in points, 7th in rebounds but unless Hokies keep winning I just feel like she loses the popularity contest to flashier players. Clark a lock, Bueckers likely a lock, Reese will unfortunately get more attention than she deserves especially now that she overtook Morrow for team lead in points, Kamila Cardoso may get the Team credit if South Carolina stays undefeated even though her stats aren't close to Kitley. Jacy Sheldon from Ohio State that may also get some run with them being Top 5 and beat Iowa. Hidalgo for Notre Dame is everyone's Freshman Darling story so keeps getting buzz.
Kitley's biggest competition among bigs is the duo of Iriafren and Brink from Stanford. Would give the nod to Brink if picking between those two as the lead but still think Kitley is better than both.
Have to hope some of them take some bad losses or have a handful of bad games late.
My only wishes for Liz would be that she moves towards the basket to draw fouls and would drive to the basket when she has the ball at the free throw line and 3ft open in front of her. Sometimes it feels like she doesn't use her size to her advantage under the hoop.
At the same time, when she has her touch dialed in, her pivot fade away is literally unbeatable. I've also noticed how quickly she gets it to her guards after a rebound. I'll admit I don't know what if the flagrant rules are different for women's, but I swear she gets hit in the face/head at least once a game and she always maintains composure. Even if you allow me to poke holes in her game, she is at the top of the ACC and the NCAA and I wouldn't want anyone else in her place. (Though since all good things have to end, I have liked what Strack has been able to do the last few games).

The rafters unfortunately by current rules require a National Award (First Team All American is considered a National Award)

But in their most recent episode of their Podcast Liz did kind of tease that Georgia might be back.
Oh I wish it to be true. But she might make more at Tech than the Australian team especially if they put her NIL money in a trust to be paid after her student visa expires.
