Amoore had two key games this week and got her second National Player of the Week recognition.

Did anyone else hear on the broadcast on Sunday the commentator question why Georgia isn't being considered for the Australian Women's National Team for the upcoming Olympics in Paris? Anyone know anything about this? Seems somewhat odd given her success at VT, but the team could be stacked with PG or SG options that are more experienced in international play. Still, at her age, you would think a roster spot and some experience going through the process even if she doesn't play significant minutes would benefit the team at the next Olympics.

Looks like Australia is the 3rd ranked team in the world behind the USA and China. I was wondering myself why she would not be considered but looking at that I assume the team has a lot of really good players (and that play together more often). It would have been cool to see her in the Olympics for sure, maybe she ends up on the next team.

current guards listed on the AUS national team roster:

  • Jade Melbourne: 5-10 G, 21yr old AUS professional who became a 3rd round WNBA pick in 2022
  • Stephanie Reed: 5-6 PG, 27yr old AUS professional who played at Buffalo 2014-2018
  • Sami Whitcomb: 5-10 SG, 35yr old naturalized AUS & WNBA professional who played at Washington 2006-10. undrafted but 2x WNBA champ with Seattle.
  • Tess Madgen: 6-0 G, 33yr old AUS professional, no D1 college or WNBA experience
  • Isobel Borlase: 5-11 G, 19yr old AUS professional, no D1 college or WNBA experience; led AUS to the 2022 FIBA under-18 gold medal

I think Amoore would be in the mix for a backup PG role if they ever went with that roster composition, but they seem to go heavy on the SG/wing types and PF/C types

And Georgia does have experience in international tournaments playing for Australia
