WBB hosts GA Tech Jan 25 at 6 PM

The #19 Ladies host GA Tech Thursday at 6PM. The game is on ACCNx. Seems like I'm always running out of time for these write ups. In this case, I made a minor mistake in scheduling my golf tomorrow. I'm in Sarasota, FL and played with a couple from Canada last week. They told me about a nice course close to the one we were playing; so I went home and booked a tee time for tomorrow. The course is Heritage Harbour, which is about 20 minutes from me. Thanks to the wonders of internet search engines, I ended up booking at Heritage Harbor which is 90 minutes from me. So not only do I have three hours of drive time in my day tomorrow that I did not expect; but I probably won't be back in time to watch the game. I'll watch the replay later.

Georgia Tech is 13-6 and 4-3 in the ACC. Their conference losses are to #23 FSU, #20 UNC and Duke; their wins were to LOLUVA at home, at Pitt, Clemson and BC.

They start a freshman, two sophomores, a junior and a 5th year. The 5th year is 6'3" forward Aixa Wone Aranaz from Spain by way of Ohio State. The next four players in basically a 9 woman rotation are 2 freshman, another 5th year and a sophomore. The Yellow Jackets are a developing team; but they have given a couple of good teams in UVA and UNC good games.

6'6" Freshman Ternis plays about 10 min/game and is shooting 59% overall and 64% from three; I'm not sure why she does not play more. Neither Aranaz or Ternis started against Clemson. But Aranaz did start against BC.

GA Tech has four players averaging double digit scoring. And they typically win the rebounding battle by 3 rebounds per game on average. Their most prolific three point shooter is #23 Augustinaite who shoots 37% from beyond the arc on 121 attempts. They have four players that average 2.1 to 2.3 fouls per game; but have only had one player foul out of a game.

GA Tech is an average ACC team. The Hokies should not have problems with them unless Amoore and King can't play. Then the game may be interesting.

LET'S GO...

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

Hokies

Onward and upward

Did not realize you were in Sarasota. Was there last weekend visiting friends who bought a retirement condo on Longboat. It was cold, and the fish did not cooperate, but we will be back next year. Maybe I can buy you a beer then?

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Sounds like a great idea. We have not stayed in the same place two years in a row. But we are always in the Sarasota area. Usually here for Jan and Feb and a few days in Mar.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

We visit them every year at around the same time - went to the Sarasota Music and Seafood Festival last year. Tried the one on Bird Island this year, but left early due to the temperatures.

See you later in Cassell! All I know is I want my free biscuit tomorrow.

Woohoo! I'm finally going to be able to make it to a WBB game! I'll be the one in maroon yelling my head off!

Amoore and King are starting

Summiel has found her niche. Defense, rebounding, garbage baskets, and the occasional 3.
Love the way she's playing.

She greatly impressed me yesterday and not surprised she has replaced Rose in the startup. She was perfect from the floor yesterday shooting and hustles like nobodies business on the floor.

Love to see that confident move to the hoop by Wenzel need more of that confidence to take it inside. She's been kind of tentative lately It seems to me.

Said the same thing. Going to search and see where you can get them

They're made by Columbia (link)

$65 No tall sizes, though, so looks like I'm out of luck.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

They have had multiple versions too. I have a maroon and grey one that i love

8-8 with 16 points in one quarter.

Amoore with 6 assists.

They were leaving her open and the rest of the team was perfectly happy to feed the beast until they adjusted their defense.

Two more quarters like that and it's biscuits!

We need to buckle that on defense a little bit this team should not be within 10 of us the way we're shooting right now

Good thing we are shooting well cuz Georgia Tech is shooting 53% from the floor at 60% from the three. Again we had a tighten up defense here.

Really like how Summiel positions on rebounds around the basket. She is good at sliding into position on missed shots.

Wenzel figuring it out by taking it to the rim rather than looking to pass

Yup. She's much more of a threat just taking it to rim right now. I've been critical of her a bunch, recently with the turnovers but she had a great game today....0 turnovers.

Obviously not the best offensive performance by King, but she did man up Dunn who went 1-10 against her.

Somewhat OT, but Duke blew out FSU in Durham. Makes that loss last week look a bit better. Great win tonight. Kitley and Georgia carrying the load. Need to get more offense out of the others, but it worked tonight. Dribble drives continue to be an issue for our defense. Need to buckle down on that lateral movement and staying in front of the offensive player. Too many easy drives around a VT defender.

Didn't Duke go on to lose at NC State? The home courts are having an effect.

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

Don't say that. We play at Syracuse next and winner takes the top spot in the ACC.

What a great time at the game. Amoore looks even faster in person. Kitley was unconscious in the first half. King is one hell of a defender. BISCUITS!

The refs still suck (one of the team in particular).

I think the term you are looking for was Kitley was unstoppable.

You mean the older gentlemen who seemed to have a mad on for us starting in the second quarter?

Sorry, late to the thread, but this phrasing amused me.

Glad you got some entertainment out of my hasty late night writing.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Didn't mean it as a dig on you. I honestly thought you did it as a dig on GT.

I wish I was that clever. It was just late and posted it without proofreading. And I did not mean to sound snarky. I'm honestly happy if anyone gets anything out of my posts.

If I had to take a guess right now as to where she's going to get drafted, I think the highest she will go (based on current standings) is #2 to Seattle. Their two centers combine for just 19 ppg, and I think they would like to pair their guard scoring threat with a legitimate post scoring threat.

Chicago could also be a solid landing spot for her, as well as Washington, as an heir to Elena Delle Donne.

My guess is she skips the draft and goes to medical school.

In the long run this would be almost guaranteed the more lucrative career. She could always play for a few years and then go to med school as well.

It might depend on where she gets drafted. Factors could be how close to home and availability of a Med School.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

This is just a hypothetical.

It's entirely her option.

These are just the few teams I see where a productive center is needed.
