Fantastic. Really happy for Pry, and for myself, because I love the Hokies. Also, this makes me hate Fuente so much bc he did such a shit job recruiting.
Lets Go
Hokies!!
Good start to the month.
Let's Go!
Hokies!! Glug...
Anytime somebody says this, I hear Mellish (Adam Goldberg) say it in my head. I never put the pieces together to use this gif.
I'm too busy cracking up over the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs dancing sans pants.
Funny you say that, because I hear life in movie quotes and anytime someone says "We got em"; I hear Mellish in my head. But always struggle to remember where/what movie it's from. So I took about 5 minutes today and after a good search got it pinned down.
Hopefully this recruit has a happier ending than Mellish did.... RIP
I hear life in Simpsons quotes.
Everything's coming up Milhouse.
I usually have one Simpson's quote that pretty much covers everything. And that changes from week to week.
You sure you don't hear life in Letterkenny/Shoresy quotes?
Those are creeping in more and more every day. My wife and I say "So dumb!" a lot these days. There's a handful that get regular usage.
"Pitter patter, let's get at `er."
"Let's get on the go b'ys."
"Here we go now, let's see some ______ in here, now"
My daughter HATES when I call her Super Chief or Pontiac.
"Lard, Jesus, b'y"
I use more hands make less work all the time.
That's a good one, too. I got my daughter using that one, but sometimes she uses it to my her advantage and my disadvantage. But, if a friend asks for help, you help `em.
I call myself a degen consistently during college football season as I bet on first half spreads
Hahaha! I've been using degen too, mostly when scolding my daughter for doing something gross or socially unacceptable. Sometimes she can be an animal.
HECK YES
Reserving my judgment to wait and see how hokie07ME chooses to feel about this news.
Let me guess. He chooses something like this:
Sorry I'm late. I was Outten about and didn't have my phone.
I will choose to be excited about this news. You should, too.
Really liking this streak of recruiting news! Lets go HOKIES!
4 star athlete from Virginia. Our program was built on these guys. LETS GO!!!!
To be fair, it was build on the 3* prospects that Beamer and Co. could develop, but, to your point, he wouldn't have had the success he had without landing a few of these along the way.
I was thinking the Ryan William's , D Lo Hall's, Fuller's etc. We had plenty of 4 stars to compliment the 3 stars
You're right. Lot's of great guys. I guess my point was more that the foundation was those 3* prospects, which was most of the roster for 20 years.
In any event, I think we agree that this is exactly what is needed to get us back to those days as it's been a while since we've had a decent portion of the roster with 4* kids.
I am super happy with recruiting. Mines has done a hell of a job on and off the field coaching. Not bad for a wahoo- lol. No seriously, Pry is trying to raise the bar on talent here- which is desperately needed and is better for everyone. His first year we had tiny guys out there trying to compete. I'm impressed with how he is upgrading the talent.
I love the fact that he's not just saying the right things but he's also backing up what he says with action. He says we need to put in the work to turn the state back to us, and ever since he started saying that, it seems like our coaches are just constantly visiting schools around the state just to check in, not even for recruiting visits. We are reestablishing relationships that are now starting to pay off and that can only mean good things for us going forward.
I love it all too. Pry feels right for the program and his methods seem to be working. But the next 18 months will tell us a lot about how players and coaches see this staff and this program in the next decade.
- Win with talent and experience this season. Put up a good ACC record, win a bowl, maybe more.
- Put a few guys in the League, and maybe in some national conversations for awards.
- Prove he can sustain the higher level of talent through recruiting and portal next off season. Likely we will not be as good next year as we are this year, but we can't start the rebuild over.
- Get the program to a better place financially. Whether that be through conference change, new revenue streams, legal wrangling, donors, or all of it, the program must get to financial comeptitiveness.
Take care of all of that, and the train will really be rolling. Getting top recruits out of Virginia (or anywhere else within "the radius") will get a hell of a lot easier.
Definitely will lose a lot of experience and production after this season, but I'm very hopeful we can reload to a large degree. The young talent in the defensive secondary should be ready to take over, and we have recruited some layered depth on DL. Jennings will be done and likely Felton and Lane as well with big seasons, but Mines has the WR room absolutely stacked. So much so that I wonder if Drones isn't completely satisfied with his draft grade, could NIL and the depth at WR lure him back another year? Guys like Green, Fitzgerald, young blue chippers like Adams, Wiggins, shifty slot guys like Turner Bradshaw and Heath. I'm very optimistic we could still be really good with a lot of our recruiting efforts paying off in 2025.
I'd be more worried Drones transfers than leaves for the NFL, but he may improve his passing significantly and this is a weak QB class so what do I know? Regardless, of he leaves we have a number of QBs in the room and there's always more in the transfer portal.
Agree with you on the depth stepping up. We have recruited DBs and WRs really well and there's a lot of young talent there that should be able to step up and thrive. The question will be if we've recruited/developed RBs, LBs, and edge rushers.
Sorry to be pedantic, but the fullers weren't from VA, and none of them were 4*.
Kendall Fuller was a 5 star and one of the highest rated recruits we've ever had
technically not a 4* !
Exactly. He wasn't 4 star
bottoms up before 9 am on a tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I suck. lol
Dude, don't try and start an argument with DC when he is saying something positive. Just roll with it.
/SSSS
Why would you say this sarcastically, it's amazing advice lmao
Any idea what position he projects to?
TE
/ssssssss
He was recruited as a WR.
He projects to be VT's first Heisman winner by playing both sides of the ball ah la Desmond Howard.
FTFY
4 touchdowns in a single game!!!
I had no idea that Ed O'Neill actually signed with the Steelers before getting cut in training camp back in 1969.
Whoops, sorry and thank you. At work now, but promise to drink over July 4th!
Many young ladies Bundified always cracks me up
I am happy about this.
Now if Pry can just get more production out of this 4* 6-0 200 lb ATH from VA than Baby Beams did I'll be happiest.
Beating out Franklin, locksly, and Fran for a recruit is big. This how we take back the state - by winning these battles more and more frequently.
Congrats to Matthew Outten.
This is where we want to be as a program. Recruiting top notch players from Virginia.
And now, a word (dance) from our sponsor:
Welcome home!
