And honestly I'm happy to have guys that can out play their body. Having a tall Dline is great and all but I'd take Corey Moore over just about everyone.

Guy should be lining up at 6'6" 265 one day. You can teach technique, but you can't teach size.

Damn I wasn't even thinking about that...
A few quick thoughts on Zeke's film (I know French would be killing these reviews if he had time, but I'll give it my best shot along the way as we get dudes in the boat)...
1. He's a big kid. It's refreshing to see us getting bigger up front. He's strong and hard to move at times. He does sometimes stall when an OL gets his hands on him.
2. He doesn't have that quick twitch that we like to see from our DL, but he does seem patient - i.e., he appears to read things relatively well, which may be why he plays the way he does...
3. With that being said, he stands straight up as his first move on almost every snap. He tends to lean on his size and strength, while watching the play develop, to win at the point of attack. sometimes he looks dominate, other times he looks like he could do more.
4. He mostly lines up inside for his high school, with the occasional outside alignment. I think he's definitely and interior DL for the Hokies.
5. He seems to take good angles on the field once he gets loose. And though he doesn't look fast, he can close distance relatively well.
All in all, we got another good sized kid who will need some time in the program before being productive. I appreciate that Pry and Co. are getting kids they can pour into and develop to the things they need. I think we are seeing a bit of a Wake Forest approach with recruiting (albeit with a higher floor) where we are loading the boat with guys who will need to redshirt and develop; but when they do we will have a very solid roster top to bottom.
Now the next step, in my opinion, is to land a handful of those blue chippers along the way to give us an edge in a spot or two so that the entire roster isn't full of developmental players. And that isn't a slight on the recruits we have. I happen to think the staff is doing an excellent job so far at building from the ground up while crushing it in the transfer portal. I know we all want the big time recruits, but all of this is positive news IMO. Lay the foundation, develop culture, win games, and get the base fired up. That is the path I see us on.
6'6 seems a little long for a dt. Maybe end?

It does, but he really doesn't possess the quickness or athleticism to play DE. At least that's what I saw. I could certainly be missing something. Some of the other guys on the site with a better eye than me might make a different assessment.
I am not sure we can win by developing players. The transfer portal and NIL means we do the work and other teams get the benefits. Really would like to see some instant impact type of commits coming soon.
It takes both.
Drones and Tuten did some developing at other programs and came to us, and we benefited. Some of our players will develop here, transfer out, and have success elsewhere.
But we can't be a sprained ankle away from playing someone who has no business playing at any given position, and unless you can recruit nothing but 4 and 5 star guys, you have to have a roster that knows what they're doing and has had a couple of years in the weight room.
I think winning is as much about how good your weaker players are as how good your best players are.
Disagree with the Wake Forest comp. Clawsons strategy was to redshirt everyone and wait until he had the oldest team imaginable. What I see Pry doing is the Matt Rhule at Baylor strategy: find guys with speed and length who may not be highly rated because they're not good football players and develop them into football players.
Wake is recruiting guys who fit their system and will stay for 5-6 years while Rhule and Pry are getting height, speed, wingspan.
The RS strategy was Jim Grobe. I don't know if Clawson kept it, but Grobe started it

That won't work today. That is done now with unlimited/no reason/no sit out rules. You try to redshirt a promising player he leaves. That approach is dinosaur now
