9-6 going to bottom of 9th
Hokies win game 1 9-6 with four runs in top of the 9th
Baseball up 1-0 in 1st inning of game 2
Cooke hits a homerun and Hokies up 3-1 in third
Hokies up 4-1 in the 6th.
Still 4-1 in bottom of the 8th
Hokies win 4-3. Allowed a bases loaded double in bottom of 8th that scored two but runner from 1st was thrown out at the plate and it was upheld on review. Hokies reliever then struck out the side in bottom of the 9th.
Softball at Alabama starting now on SECN+
woah, those softball uniforms are something
not that it mattered...why wasn't the runner on third?
Softball trails 1-0 in bottom of the 5th
Softball drops game one 1-0
still don't understand this play...
Top of the 3rd, VT with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Ground ball to short; short flips to second for the force; second tries to complete the double play throwing to first; ball strikes runner enroute to second in the head (runner was in baseline and made no attempt to avoid); ball ricochets back into short left field on the fly; runner initially on 2nd rounds third to try to score as the umpire waives the play dead.
Ruling was runner on first was out on the force and guilty of interfering with the throw to first (apparently you have to slide?). In the end, they charged 2 outs, but they left a runner on 1st. Why wouldn't the runner who started on second be on the last base they safely held (either 2nd or 3rd?). Do they just pick the most advantageous second out for the defense? There was no attempted play on the runner who started the play on second.

EDIT...over on 247 the explanation is that since the interfering runner was by a player already retired, then by rule the second out is the player closest to home.
Softball in bottom of the 2nd gets out of the inning with a strikem out/throwem out double play. Still 0-0
Hokies get a homerun to lead off 4th. Up 1-0. Cori McMillan with the blast to dead center
Hokies manufacture another run in the 5th without hitting a ball out of the infield.
2-0
Hokies get a sac fly from Cori McMillan and lead 3-0 going to bottom of 7th
Hokies Mazzarone and Lemley proceed to allow 3 runs in bottom of the 7th so headed to extra innings.
didn't see how but hokies put up 5 in the 8th! last half inning coming up
Glad to see their bats come alive after allowing Bama back in the game in the bottom of the 7th.
Hokies get an ACC leading 14th Homerun from Chatfield and put up 5 runs in the top of 8th.
Lemley shuts the door in 8th with 1-2-3 inning. Hokies ruin Alabama Senior Day with about 450 fans in attendance.
Hokies now 25-5-1
Thanks for keeping up with this, Rob.
1st ever program win over Bama
Baseball working on the sweep leads 3-2 in the 4th
Demartini hit his 13th homerun
Cannizzaro two run homer in top of 7th Hokies lead 5-3
Cooke with a 2 RBI triple to make it 7-3 still in 7th.
Martin gets hit by pitch for 3rd time today forcing in a run and a wild pitch brings in another to make it 9-3 and then Demartini hits a sac fly to make it 10-3.
This team kinda reminds me of the one that hosted the regional a few years ago. Can just throw up runs in the blink of an eye
Walk with bases loaded makes it 11-3 in the 8th
Grady sac fly makes it 12-3
12-4 going to the 9th
Hammerin Hokies sweep with a 12-6 win.
Move to 18-4 and 8-1 in ACC play.
