She's coming back to the area, now as a Washington Mystic.
She was Washington's 3rd pick of the 1st Round, behind former Notre Damer Sonia Citron and former USCw Kiki Iriafen.
The Mystics open on May 16, hosting Atlanta, but the game I'm focusing on will be the May 23rd game, where Amoore will take the court opposite her former roommate, Elizabeth Kitley, and the Las Vegas Aces.

It took all I had to fight back the urge to comment "who?"
Good for her.
Damn, I'll be in Vegas the following day. Loved to have gone to see that.
On one hand, good for her.
On the other hand, unless she instructs the WNBA to list VT as where she's from in player intros or her bio like Russell Wilson did for NC State despite transferring to Wisconsin, I genuinely don't care.
Exactly where I am.
Anybody else wonder how Washington had three picks in the top 6 of a draft?
They did a trade with Chicago Sky that gave them the #3 pick, a pick swap in 1st round in 2027 if beneficial, and Chicago's 2nd round pick in 2027
#4 was their pick
They did a trade with Minnesota for the #6
Washington is in full rebuild mode so traded away Karlie Samuelson and two time All Star Ariel Atkins
I get that everywhere just lists last school. See: Russel Wilson, Wisconsin not Russel Wilson, NC State. But, I'm still excited about this. I'm a casual, and/so I have no hard feelings for someone following their coach out of town and am happy to celebrate a top 10 pick even if she goes in as a Wildcat. The Amoore/Kitley years were great here! No one can stop you from seeing her in the WNBA and going "hey, she went to my school!". She did, even if she jumped pro from another one. Once a Hokie, always a Hokie.
or,
(sorry about the weird formatting, bluesky embed code didn't grab the picture)
Wait, did Georgia create this or the fan? It looks like a fan created and posted this.
Fan edit I'm 99.9999% sure. Just posting in agreement
oh hi, that's my post, but that image was originally posted by The Cassell Guard

As a season ticket holder for both Tech & Mystics basketball, I'm suddenly very excited about this upcoming year
It 100% sucks that she'll be listed as Georgia Amoore - Kentucky, but if it wasn't for her most of you wouldn't care at all about women's basketball and her transferring can't take away that we went to the Final Four when she was a Hokie.
This. Those couple years were magical. Wish she'd have just gone pro last year, but it seems like she probably did boost her stock some. Good for her.
Loved her when she was with us, ignore her now. Wish we had one like her every year, though.
As a Mystics fan, I'm ecstatic about this. I need to replace my Ariel Atkins shirsey with an Amoore one.
She has a degree from VT. Continuing her education elsewhere doesn't make her any less of a hokie.
She has also been on the record for saying she hated Blacksburg plus all the drama with kenny's departure. Just because she has a degree from VT doesn't mean she relishes it.
I have a degree from ODU, most people don't know that and just assume it's from VT because they know how much of a Hokie I am. I donate to VT, I DO NOT donate to ODU.
Point being; let's see which school she actually claims...
Pretty liberal interpretation of her comments... basically she got hated on by the fan base on her way out and it left a bad taste in her mouth which she vocalized. Now that we have a little time between now and her departure... I get why she left and wish her the best. We've had a chance to better understand just how mismanaged our basketball programs are and she was no dummy to follow Kenny to a school that valued hoops. She was part of the best Tech basketball team in our history and for that I give her love. Hopefully there is a nice sweet reconciliation down the road and VT shows her the love she deserves and she returns it in spades.
As stated above, her distaste seemed to stem directly from the hate she got after announcing. She said she was questioning her desire to even walk at graduation after the way she'd been treated.
My mother taught me early in life that you don't waste your love on those who don't love you back. Even knowing how deranged some fans can get (think Maurice Deshazo's tires), when she followed Kenny out the door, she walked right out of my life. Her loyalty was always to him, not VT. Do I appreciate what she did here? Yeah, I was all in on that team, but as for the state of VT basketball, she and her accompanying teammates and recruits did a world of damage to what was a formiddable women's basketball team when they jumped ship on us to follow her guru.
Would I treat her badly if she showed up at the local pub or something? No, of course not, but I'd also not be standing her a shout when her beer ran low. So for her to be mad at VT because of her defection causing fans to be upset is understandable, but for fans to be upset isn't? Cry me a river.
I think the number one reason why fans are upset with modern day college football is because it kills the notion that athletes select a school based on an emotional connection similar to how fan/students do. For a lot of athletes, picking the right university is just a means to an end. Fans don't wanna believe that.
When it comes to Virginia Tech, things are even more warped because Frank Beamer stayed here for ages. How many players were loyal to Frank Beamer but not Virginia Tech, and we just couldn't tell the difference because Frank was here for so long? It's an interesting thing to ponder.
Well, I disagree. We fans are upset by the state of college football, for sure, but picking a college is seldom just because a recruit is in love with VT. It's what develops during their association that might or might not result in a love of VT. If every recruit is just here to enable them to make bank or bolt, now that's what really upsets fans about the state of college sports right now.
My point is that she had a great college career with us developed not only by Kenny, but by the support fans afforded her. I don't expect instant love from one and done athletes, but she had a lot of love and respect from VT fans and that counted for what? I can't imagine a single thing more she needed from us, and realize she owes us nothing, but again, I'll remember Kitley with much admiration...
I obviously agree, but I think a lot fans still think this way. I think fans in their heart want to believe that recruits grow up watching college football, have favorite teams, etc. Hell, a lot of the Gen Z recruits don't even watch football games. They play the sport, and they play Madden, but they don't sit down and actually watch the NFL, much less college.
I often wonder if Kitley would've also followed Kenny if she had another year of eligibility available to her.
Thankfully we will never have to know. I had no hate for Georgia leaving. She posted a nice goodbye message and explained her reasons. The spill from Kenny slinking away in the night spilled onto her inappropriately.
No hate from me for Georgia, just no love any more.
Lock- 100%.
Yep. Hate it, but believe it's true.
I choose to be happy we didn't have to find that out.
So I can continue to wear my Kitley gear without reservation.
Preach it, Fish.
My loyalty to a player is based 100% on their loyalty to VT, so I don't feel the need to rush out and buy a Mystics jersey.
Still, I wish her well in her career and hope she does well in Washington.
Once a Hokie, always a Hokie for me. Wish her the best of luck as a pro.
Except Trevon Hill
We'll keep his dance moves, though.
(If I could've found the gif, I'd've posted it.)
So I guess we...
... DIDN'T keep them ???
Add Eric Kumah to the list.
Looks like the Wildcat is off to a rough start to her professional career
cant tell from your tone if you're gloating or not
Edit: "tone" not "tine"
I'm actually impressed by the ESPN article about this.
They mentioned us
Yeah, this sucks. Both the news and the post.
