This is top Notch info.
We get YouTubeTV from August through January just to watch college football. Now I'm wondering if we just do a weekend pass every weekend.
But might be more trouble than it's worth.
The plus with YTTV is the unlimited recording so you can watch, or rewatch, at any time. The Sling option you'd have to watch only during broadcast. So that may be a deciding factor for some.
For all ACC games that are televised by ESPN or ACCN, the ACC Digital Network posts complete games, condensed games, and game highlights on YouTube. Or, at least they have the past couple of years.

Last year, the YouTube upload was usually within 3-4 hours.
Hmm - this might be helpful for me week one, as my wife is apparently planning a trip to go see her family labor day weekend
Me and Mrs MattBoard talked about it, but since she's a Penn State fan and Sling doesn't carry the fox channels/B1G on the day pass, we decided to use YT instead
That's gonna be a problem for us. Not that we're B10 fans. But I want the whole hog.
this is the way!
Good shit. This is how I'll be watching sports this fall/winter
My YTTV is scheduled to restart in two weeks. But this tempting. At $83/month for YTTV, I can save $50+ a month.
The negatives are:
1) Many of the more interesting CFB games are on ABC and Fox. Just week 1, the sling plan misses out on: Auburn at Baylor, Texas at OSU, Syracuse at Tennessee, Alabama at FSU, LSU at Clemson, Utah at UCLA, and ND at Miami. Some notable bowl games are on ABC and Fox too, but the CFP are on ESPN.
2) MLB playoffs are partially covered. WC games on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. NLDS and NLCS on TBS. ALDS, ALCS, and WS are on Fox or FS1. Plus, the games are played through out the week, requiring either multiple day passes or a week pass.
3) Most NFL games including playoffs are not covered. But Peacock will have the NBC games (including Super Bowl LX), Paramount+ will have CBS games, and Prime Video covers TNF. So, I think you can cheaply stream all nationally televised games. For paramount+ streaming, I think there are limitations based on locality to meet the local market NFL contracts. But, a decently cheap option to catch most games if you're a fan of an AFC team.
If there was a way to stream ABC and Fox, it would be a no-brainer. Those two channels are holding me back.
ABC and Fox are available OTA if you have an antenna (assuming you are in a location that gets enough signal)
I did pick up an antenna. The first antenna I bought didn't get any of the VHF channels. The second antenna was able to get the VHF but it wasn't working great with UHF channels. I put an LTE filter on the second antenna and now Im getting the VHF and UHF channels now with clarity. The total cost about $35.
I don't know that I have a reason to resume YTTV.
Does sling have the quad box?
is there a hardware requirement for Sling or can you just use a browser?
App or browser
I just want to know if I could get local channels with that. If I could get the Atlanta station that's carrying the Falcons game, that weekend pass would be a great deal.
When I checked my zip code in Chattanooga, local channels weren't available, but I get good OTA reception for local stuff
I split my YTTV between 3 people and it's the best $30 cable package I've ever had.
Are you three in the same local TV market? YTTV has been a pain for someone trying to "share" our account where they are in a different market. I think it blocks them from the local channels when we have the current area set to our home area.
My father in law is at Lake Norman and we just juggle logging in there as me, or vice versa when he visits Roanoke. The other is local though.
Now they need to come up with something so you can pay to see just your team play. More on the NFL side, as I don't think I've ever not been able to watch a Tech game here in NC. But I'd pay a rate to watch the redskins. I don't care about any other NFL games.
Same for the Falcons. Until then, streameast is the way.
Fucking ridiculous. This is going to end up sending the monthly bill over $100 for the base plan on YTTV.
This happens all the time with other Channels and it usually gets resolved and I can't say it affects the bill any.
Nice thanks for the info
Downloaded the app last night. Won't open, just a blank screen π
Bought a weekend pass this am... it's working fine
I can't get to a screen to get the pass. When I get off the beach, I'll try deleting and redownloading it
EDIT: Got it worked out. Going to wait til I get up to get the day pass so I can catch the Miami/ND game too
Downloaded YoutubeTV, but it will not verify location on my firestick. So I was relegated to watching bootleg tv after having paid the $80 or whatever it was. So freaking frustrating. Why can't we just watch TV (I know the technical answer to this)??
Welp, looks like I'll now be going the day-pass route when I can't get the game otherwise. Unless anybody knows any other options....
Streameast raided, shut down
Might not want to speak too soon...
Disney (i.e. ESPN) is suing Sling to try to end the Day Pass subscription.
https://www.movieguide.org/news-articles/disney-sues-sling-tv-over-short-term-subscription-plans.html
Disney, Paramount/Skydance, and Comcast are pretty much buying out, leveraging, or suing anyone who doesn't allow them to consolidate more power.
They are gonna get your dollar one way or another and now there is essentially no functional FTC to stop them...
