Long story short, Yarn.co incorporates a Cloudflare captcha in front of hot linked images (embedding an image from another domain.) So eventually, because of TKP's heavy traffic, they will not display on the site, instead people will see a broken image icon. If you embed a Yarn image, they will get filtered out now. Upload images and GIFs to imgur or Giphy, then embed as usual.

Joe, lately some twitter embeds are breaking a thread for me on mobile. I'll be scrolling, get to a loaded embed, and then i cant scroll past it. Or back up. No matter how long i seem to wait. So i just close tab and come back to it, but then all the new comments are marked as read. No issues the second time i visit a thread
Not sure if just me or anyone else or everyone
Backing up GGC. I've had something similar but it hasn't been locked up completely. I either have to wait 15-20 seconds to free up, or try to scroll outside of the Twitter embed on the very edges
Same here actually, but it's happening on all websites for me on phone, not just TKP.
Yeah I was going to say, I doubt it's a TKP thing. Twitter fucked this up before when they shipped buggy embed code, I remember I had to filter them out. Let's give it a wee and see what happens.
What are your phone details?
Seems, a tad messy..../s (assuming this was typo for 'week' lol)
My phone is about 4 years old haha I think a Samsung S21.
Twitter fucked up?
Why that's inconceivable. There are absolutely no signs that such a company could push out buggy code. Its almost like they've lost a significant portion of their workforce and have never recovered in full from the talent and knowledge drain over the year(s).
What are the phone details?
I'm married
Lol google pixel 6a running chrome browser on android 16
Chrome? Gross...
Gotta run firefox with ublock...
Been using brave for a bit now and it's pretty decent
Edit: only drawback is that since it doesn't store information between instances I had to move to a different password manager than the Google one (which I probably should have been doing anyway)
google integration is so nice
Internet without a real adblocker is a nonstarter
And this is why I run a subscription business now. (Not picking on you, I run an ad blocker too.)
For the record, before I started paying to be here I whitelisted TKP and your ads are way less intrusive than 99% of the internet. But being able to watch youtube without ads on my phone is great.
I don't go any where with out my pihole
Joke's on you, i barely even go on the internet
duckduckgo browser
Just so you have mine, running Chrome on Android, Samsung galaxy s22+
I've seen this a lot. I've worked around it by not trying to drag on the embedded content. Find a gap between the context or grab near the borders of your phone screen outside the content your such on and drag, should unstick you. It'll jump a bit as you move past but it's fine in the end
Ban Hammer coming in strong! I like it.
I absolutely hate gif websites so I use a shortcut. I just find the gif I want in an image search that is not on a gif uploader, open the image in a new tab and then on a pc right click > inspect element > copy the img file link > paste directly into TKP comment box and ...
How do you right click on a mobile though....
mobile no can do to my knowledge so I go gif-less and use additional wit and sarcasm to overcompensate
It's a multi-tab, multistep process that usually isn't worth it on mobile. And not even sure I can clearly convey it.
You just long press. I've posted many gifs from my phone. You can open image source in new tab to get the URL typically.
NGL... never use Yarn... not even sure I've heard of it before this thread.
Do what fernley said ^^^
Before Yarn changed whatever it is they changed, it was the simplest and most versatile GIF source there was. Simply type the show or movie name along with a few words of the quote you wanted and boom. Long press the gif, copy image URL, paste in TKP.
You can still use Yarn with mobile, it just takes a few extra steps. Now it's best to save the gif to your phone, upload into Imgur app, then (if you're running Chrome) you need to open Imgur website as the desktop site (I have this bookmarked on my phone to make it easier), find your upload/GIF, open that in a new tab, then long press the GIF in the new browser tab and hit "Open Image in new tab" then copy the GIF URL from that new tab address bar.
Sounds convoluted but when you get the steps memorized and save the app/desktop site to your phone, it generally takes about 30 seconds to put GIF to TKP.
(I think bots started catching on and flooding the site and they changed things to ensure only humans were using it.)
Working fine for me
Bravo.
