Agree.
He might've ruined Drakes career but that performance most likely ended his as well. The sound crew should also be unemployed as the acoustics were awful but that's beside the fact he mumbled his best Milli Vanilli impersonation.

They did- my wife turned them on because she could not make out the words. She then said knowing what you could not hear did not make it any better any turned them off.

I heard the replay on YouTube is clear and sounds much better. I wonder if Fox used mics to capture the sounds from the speakers in the stadium instead of just playing the prerecorded track directly on the TV feed.

That sounds like a typical production mistake that somebody would make. They were probably afraid the lip syncing would be even more noticeable on a pre-recorded track.

I learned that Kendrick Lamar is from Compton, CA; that was the only lyric I could discern. I even went back yesterday and watched the youtube video with headphones on. Still, Compton was it. The dancing sperms (6:10 of the youtube vid) was...unique???; don't know what was going on there.
Apparently the halftime audience the NFL is trying to appeal to is 18-30 year olds that listen to hip hop. You will never see foo fighters, metallica, Zac Brown, Dave Matthews, any modern country again. You are going to get processed auto tune garbage because the NFL is targeting those fans at the super bowl party. Most sports bars don't even turn the volume up for halftime. BTW- there is not a more overrated thing in sports and more artist turn it down than accept the invite.

Well apparently Jay-Z has been picking halftime shows since hired in 2019. That has been why have had his artists.
Not sure what you mean by 'his' - assuming you mean def jam artists, None of the performers since Rhianna have been signed to Def Jam... The Weeknd's label is XO Records and Snoop/Dre/50/Em/MJB/Kendrick are all signed to Interscope/Aftermath.

Also my wife said it was the worst half time show she can ever remember.
My feel for it was that he took a performance that was designed for his fans and copy/pasted it into the superbowl halftime show. There were millions of people who got all the easter eggs, knew all the references, etc, and probably tens of millions more who are hip hop fans who appreciated it.
But there were 100 million people who were completely out of the loop.
This was not a pop music performance. Personally, I enjoyed this more than any halftime show pre-2020 (except for Prince and Beyonce - they were the exceptions).

I loved it as well but yeah this was a love it or hate it choice for sure. If you were not already a Kendrick Lamar fan or hip hop fan in general then of course it was not something you would enjoy.

I thought the last three years (Rhiannna, Dre/snoop/aftermath, The Weekend) were great, and all better than last night (as well as anything else post-prince)

I guess I'm just in the 100 million then. I don't listen to hip hop so I was completely out of the loop. I didn't hate it. I just didn't get it. I was not really entertained by it. I was so distracted by trying to figure out what his jacket said for most of the show that I didn't really catch anything else. About 3/4s of the way thru I finally figured out it said "GLORIA" which.....I still don't get.

2nd Super Bowl of my lifetime. Got revenge on those bastards from a couple years ago and made it hurt so there wasn't any doubt. Holy shit, last night was the kind of stuff dreams are made of.

Not even watching...we all expect the Thiefs will be gifted a 3rd by the officials. Can't have the sponsors needing to make new commercials
Just gifted an offensive PI on a long 4th down conversion by the eagles.
Yeah that didn't take long at all.
Although that wasn't a great call right there either on KC hit to the head
Nope refs returned the favor.
Anybody have Cooper DeJean becoming the first white DB to have a pick 6 since Jason Sehorn in 2002?
Me the whole first half

All I can say is the Eagles earned their way to the SuperBowl and the Chiefs were gifted it. The game reflected that.
Also my wife said it was the worst half time show she can ever remember.

The halftime show made me want to turn on captions, but I wasn't sure they would work.

Usually they don't lip sync, they rap or sing over the recorded track. It's common practice

Loved UA's post on Xitter https://x.com/united/status/1888768826394726691
Maybe they get the best Super Bowl ad award...10+ million views for free!

overlays nicely with sports bettors as well

So it wasn't just me, then?
I was confused. I couldn't hear or understand a damn thing. It just didn't feel like it had much heart in it.

Prince is and was the gold standard and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
I also really liked Dr Dre and Snoop in 2022 but it seems like I like that one more than most people
ZZ Top and the Blues Brothers was the best I can remember for a long time.
I thought the last three years (Rhiannna, Dre/snoop/aftermath, The Weekend) were great, and all better than last night (as well as anything else post-prince)
Agreed, Prince is probably my fave as well
Same. Second only to Prince among halftime shows I've watched

It'a an homage to his pen name.

It certainly was an ass-kicking. I'll leg you for that.
I think about all the times I never thought I'd see them win one. Let alone two. Let alone dominating the Mahomes Chiefs.
I feel so fortunate. At least one of my favorite teams is killing it
GO BIRDS!
Gillie needs his own float for the parade
Xavier Worthy anytime TD +155 and longest TD earned me a $46 bonus bet for King of the Endzone
Just turned that $46 one time bet into $40
How it feels trying to watch the speeches going on in Philly right now
