DeAngelo Hall donates $16.7M to Lane Renovation project

In a historic gesture of generosity and unwavering loyalty, former Virginia Tech football standout DeAngelo Hall has donated $16.7 million to his alma mater to support a comprehensive renovation of Lane Stadium. This contribution is among the largest ever made by an individual to Virginia Tech Athletics, underscoring Hall's enduring commitment to the university that launched his illustrious career.

The $16.7 million donation is earmarked for the modernization of Lane Stadium, home to the Hokies since 1965. The renovation aims to enhance the game-day experience for fans and provide state-of-the-art facilities for student-athletes. Lane Stadium, known for its formidable atmosphere, has undergone several upgrades over the years, with the last major renovation occurring in 2013 .

"Virginia Tech pride lives within me wherever I go," Hall stated. "This university shaped me into the person I am today, and I am committed to supporting the future of Virginia Tech football."

Thinking this may be fake. A $21M Bruce Smith donation was making the rounds earlier this month.

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

Fake news unfortunately.

yeah I was about to say, I know he did well in the NFL but not that well

Even if it was real, I'd have a hard time believing we earmark anything for facility upgrades anymore, everything is going straight to athlete's pockets.

Which is a shame because our facilities are rapidly falling behind. And at least in the case of Cassell, are toward the bottom of the barrel in terms of fan amenities throughout college athletics.

I have to say, being in Lane Stadium Wednesday night, it was totally dead, outdated, lame- totally needs razed and re-done. We should try to keep up with JMU in this regard. Lane looked done to me Wednesday night- no juice.

locking this per CGs of "consider the source". I think we'd be hearing about this from the Athletic Department like we did with the donation/gift from Bruce Arians to rename the QB room.

not from "soccershakers.com"
