Step 1 down. Many more to go
If Whit isn't also gone, this will mean nothing. Don't light $6M on fire if you aren't cleaning house.
Have to imagine that we're getting a long-term interim head coach, especially if you believe that the school is going to make a move on Whit by the end of the month.
Whether you like Chris Coleman or not, I think his recent comments about bungling the whole process this summer are right. By keeping Whit you basically made this season a lame duck year if it was going to go south, and boy did it go south.
Yeah CC has really been stating that how this has been handled from a leadership perspective amounts to negligence. By Sands not dealing with Whit sooner, we have let this fester and find ourselves in a huge predicament now.
And Mehul has posted some things non paywall on 247 today that state even though Sands appeared to be committed to football, his lack of leadership and decision-making relating to athletics have led us to this point. Sounds like that was the official stance of the administration but Sands has just mismanaged the situation completely with football. Total meltdown of leadership. It sounds like a committee of BOV members might be actively putting all these wheels in motion at this point.
Whit doesn't get to make a 3rd football coaching hire in 10 years
Hey, the site finally loaded!
I'm actually pleasantly surprised they're moving as quickly as they are with this. I saw the 9/30 BoV meeting rumor thing, but I figured there was no way they would let this fester for even that long.
Had to happen. The team quit---he was completely lost, ineffective and clueless.
Whit is probably gone 9/30. Hopefully the BOV is starting an Independent coaching search outside of his purview. Best case, the search embarrasses Whit enough to coerce a Resignation.
Let the interim HC get a win next week before what will likely be a long, ugly rest of the season.
I completely disagree with your first paragraph. If the team had quit we would not have scored 26 points in the second half. ODU kept their starters in until the last 2 minutes. They were trying their best to prevent us from scoring and to run up the score.
Agree- the Vandy game I couldn't see the fight in the last of the 3rd til end of the game, but this week I was at least happy to see us scoring. The 'crowd'-usingthat term loosely-was engaged. Technically, we 'won' the second half!
Hey, we got our decision out there into the news cycle before UCLA did, at least!
Can we chalk that up as a win, maybe...?
This was the easy part. The hard part will be gutting the entire AD
