More impressive than the shot, winning the puck battle and then shrugging off the check by Zach Werenski. I would do horrible things for Weresnki to be a Rangers. What a horse.

I don't know if my wife is more annoyed that her home country lost to US and I didn't even really care that we won or if she would have been more annoyed if I had been paying any attention to the games.

In fairness, that is almost certainly true. Canada has way more talent top-to-bottom than the US does. Now, granted, you are not comparing top-to-bottom talent, but the top players vs. the top players and so mid-level players do not matter. And they were favored to win.
But, so what? The best team on paper doesn't always win. That's why you play the games and why in a real sport with fair determination of who wins and not some judge or voter giving preference to the favorite you can get different results than what are expected.

If it wasnt for the goalie on team usa player probably the game if his life they lose. Its why most major sports have series to find the better team so the outliers are removed.

I think the outliers are why the vast majority of us watch sports. If the best team can be determined on paper beforehand, why play the game? Intangibles are real. If we just need to keep repeating the experiment until we get the outcome we expect, why run the experiment?

I mean, yes to peter warrick, but FSU was the better team, not that there starters were so much better, but their backups came in and gave their starters a rest that our backups couldnt do and FSU was so much fresher in the 4th.

Thank you. I'm glad someone else mentioned that. We had the best player on the field that day. Arguably the best player in the entire sport that year. But, top-to-bottom, FSU was a much better team than we were. Especially once you got past the starters.

Looking back, that might have been the all time greatest hockey tournament ever put on, at least on the men's side, if not one of the all time greatest sporting tournaments ever.
Every major impactful game was decided in either the last minute of regulation or overtime. Just an insanely good stretch of great games and I'm fortunate to have followed it.
On the women's side, US was a machine that could not be stopped.

Awesome! Our clubhouse opened early as well for about 50 of us. The Tkachuk's summered here in the club while Matthew & Brady were growing up, so we all root hard for them.
It's been a while since I've had 5 beers before 10:00 a.m. Yeesh...

Having no interest in the Olympics, I had no idea the game was even being played until our daughter mentioned to my Alberta born-and-raised wife (though she is now a dual US-Canadian citizen) at the restaurant earlier today that Canada had lost. She was not happy.
Then, our daughter goes, well, at least your other team won. That did not go over well.
Daughter then says, but you are an American now too. That REALLY did not go over well.
She's not really that mad. Just annoyed that Canada lost twice. But at least I stayed out of the conversation.

Team USA will try to make it 3 for 3 in Hockey Gold Medals when the US Sled Hockey Team takes on Canada in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday at 11am. For those of you who have never watched Sled Hockey before, now is your chance to watch the two best teams in the world go head-to-head. Sled Hockey (also known as Sledge Hockey or Para Ice Hockey) is my favorite Paralympic sport.
The US is trying to win it's fifth straight Sled Hockey Paralympic Gold, and Canada is looking for their first gold since 2006 (and second gold overall).
The US is 4-0 in this tournament, and they've outscored their opponents 40-3 thus far. They also have the greatest sled hockey player of all time in Declan Farmer. In Team USA's four games, Farmer has four hat tricks!
No country has ever won Olympic/Paralympic Gold in Men's Hockey, Women's Hockey and Sled Hockey in the same year, so Team USA has a chance to make history. AND we have a chance to beat Canada in the hockey gold medal game three times in one year!

Yeah, it's kind of a trade off. The guys with 2 legs tend to have better balance and strength so they can knock guys off the puck more easily. The guys with no legs can get pushed around more, but they're usually quicker and can shoot from different angles since there are no legs in the way.

That shot in OT to win the gold by Hughes. WOW!
Absolute snipe

Let the wailing commence from the entirety of the Great White North...Canadians swept in Olympic Hockey by the heathens to the south

Apparently members of Team Canada are speaking to the media that the better team lost.

And its not like there was some shady call that tilted the ice in the US's direction. Game was even from the zebras.
Two of the four on ice officials were Canadian to boot
It just means more.

Well, we won the three game series between the Olympics and Four Nations so sounds like we're definitely the better team 🇺🇸

The funny part, the US goalie plays for Winnipeg.
If the better team always won we wouldn't hate Matt Ryan
Fuck Matt Ryan!!!
or Peter Warrick
fuck him too

They had 6 receivers play in the nfl (not including Boldin who didn't play that year), we had 1.
And both our starting dbs got hurt
100% true. Canada was smoking us for most of the game. The only reason it wasn't 5-1 was the insane play from the US goalie.
Insane game this morning... Us goalie was incredible
Yeah, Canada had 42 shots on goal.
Absolutely. Without Connor. We lose like 3 or 4 to 1
No teeth golden goal is legendary

In my best Andrew Dice Clay voice.....Hey Canada! Look what we did to you......AGAIN!
Suck it, Quebec
This never fails to make me laugh
Olympic Gold-tier reference

was questioning if it would land without the ability to add the accent in text.
save of the century
Something about red, white, and blue masks.

This is exactly what I thought of when that happened. I'll remember exactly where I was for both of those saves for the rest of my life.
I LOL'd at this one.
Me, thought #1 - Oh, I have to show this to my Canadian wife!
Me, thought #2 - Wait, I want to live to see our daughter's graduation, don't I?
I can still hear Doc Emrick:
"Ohhhhhhh and it didn't go!"
I will always miss Doc calling the games. Man is an absolute legend and nobody can match him in my eyes.
Or ears

It appears that the players with 1 or 0 legs have a big advantage in this version due to better control and quickness

"Seated Rivalry" is perfection
USA HOCKEY TIMES THREE!!! Team USA's Sled Hockey Team beat Canada to win their fifth straight Gold Medal!!!!!
This is the first time that a country has won gold in Men's Hockey, Women's Hockey and Sled Hockey in the same Olympic Year!
And we beat them in the WBC Friday night!
