Can the Hokies beat UNC? Absolutely.
It sounds like the Hokies will have Tyler Johnson back and Caleb Wilson will be out for UNC.
We get to see Jaydon Young in his bit role at UNC. What a step down from playing 25 minutes per night. Getting just over 7 minutes now.
A big key to beating UNC is keeping them from shooting 50%+ inside. On the season they are shooting nearly 57% inside but alot of that was Caleb Martin. In five of their six losses they shot around 41%.
OUT

LET'S GO
With the injury report, I like our chances
HOKIES!!!!!!!
Wish I shared your optimism, but I feel like we'll either get creamed or play a tight game we lose at the end. Hoping like hell I'm totally wrong.
UNC has been struggling without Wilson. we have a chance to pick up a nice win here. Tech is also only 2 wins out of the 8th seed for the ACC tournament.
It would be nice to see Tyler Johnson come back and have a positive effect on the team, and we somehow take this game. Definitely a win-win situation for us if we can manage that.
Did I just see Chris Marve has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator at Colorado? RIP Coach Prime.
Looking at the records...minus 3 last second losses, the records are almost identical.
Number 10 is in!
Hansberry has at least 2 inexcusable fouls evey game.
Absolute horseshit call on Hammond just now. Completely planted.
I guess I have no idea what the difference between a block and charge is. The announcers said he slid his left leg during the replay that showed he was solidly planted.
I am not sure how that could be any more textbook charging call.
There were two textbook charging fouls in that game. Unfortunately both were called as blocking fouls on us. Replay clearly shows he was in position and planted before the UNC player even jumped. But blocking foul on us.
Holy Lawal!
Streaky game. Hokies in the lead again.
Not a lot of fouls called but hansberry with 3 of our 6 and neo with 2.
If you would have given me an O/U of 40.5 for VT in the first half, I would have lost the house on the under.
"Who are these people on the halftime show? I've been watching all season." "...oh, we're on ESPN primetime for once."
We have the wrong guys in foul trouble for us.
Gotta get back to working the paint. Takin too many outside shots.
Passing up two open threes to go foul hunting and then a dunk the other way is depressing.
Fuckin christ avdalas.
Ref completely blocked from the play calls the foul. #goacc
Well, Valais got away with illegal screens, moving picks all night. But, you have to run through them to force the call. Definitely some home cooking for UNC as usual. Time to take care of business against BC.
Didn't watch it but 24 fouls to 11.
11 FT attempts to 23. That's criminal, fucking criminal.
That's 11 attempts to 30 attempts. UNC only made 23 of their 30. Unbelievable disparity for a game that ended as a 7-point margin of victory
Thx for the correction, it was late last night and now that I've read your comment, it makes it it that much worse.
Can there be another indicator of an absolute game rigging besides players betting on their own games?
Fouls were even 8 to 8 at the end of the first half so that tells you everything you need to know. They still got 5 shooting fouls to our three in first half. It was a 10-6 disparity.
Second half was 20 to 5 FTA disparity. Fouls were 16 to 5 disparity. 6 of their FTA and 3 of our fouls were extend the game fouls. That still makes it 14 to 5 and 13 to 5 in gameplay fouls. No chance with how we go inside that there should have been a 3 to 1 disparity.
I wasnt able to watch this one, had kid events until almost 1030 last night.
That's crazy. With your breakdown, the refs made a brazen adjustment during halftime to further show their participation condensed in only half the game.
Refs doing their best Captain Obvious impression.
24 comments (now 25) in a game thread where we played a ranked team that we absolutely hate... that should tell us all about how off the rails this season has gone for us.
Well I was watching the game so couldn't comment during. Then I took the night to cool off. Guys player their hearts and souls out in a 5 on 8 game. Way to many no calls on UNC. Some in the first half which led to the tie score at half. There was no way it was happening again in the second. UNC players went to the line again and again in the second half. Charity strip decided the game not play on the floor.
More than half of them griping about the refs. As usual. I do share the frustration, though, but it seemed to me that Carolina made some adjustments, got their big man into the paint, and all we could do was foul. Could've been worse, we were pretty scrappy the whole game, as usual, but I won't blame the refs for our loss. There are always bad calls, every game. Good to see Johnson back on the court, we're a better team with him when he's back in shape.
