TELL-a-thon 3.0 Update and TKP Tailgate Reminder

The last bit of meta before the start of Virginia Tech's season, Monday.

[Mark Umansky]

It's college football season.

I feel like I'm being pulled in one-thousand different directions as I try to tie up all my loose ends before I drive down to Blacksburg. (I wrote this on Thursday.) I'm struggling to checkoff all of my todos because my focus is squarely on tonight's college football games. I still have to, among other things, run a few miles, pick up a friend, pack and edit the remaining stories set to go live on TKP. I have a note on my desk to remind The Key Play community of some items of interest that might have been obscured by the 17 stories posted since Monday. (If you haven't noticed, the team has crushed it this week.)

The TELL-a-thon broke 5-digits. The amount of financial support the TKP community has shown has been nothing short of amazing. If you're just back around the block since the end of last season, TKP wants to hire its first full-time employee, a beat writer that would serve at the pleasure of the community and readership. In order to preserve TKP's culture and open community, and to make articles and content accessible to all, a decision was made to keep TKP free to access. Hence, I'm asking our readers and community to support the endeavor. In order to even consider a full-time staffer a possibility, financial support from the readership needs to hit $40,000 a year. As of September 4, TKP's generosity in 2015 has contributed $10,893.92 (27.23%). If it's not evident, Thekeyplay.com is committed to insightful coverage from unique voices, film analysis, advanced statistical analysis, up-to-date news, humor and interviews with high school recruits and coaches. A full-time beat writer is the logical, next big move to make.

Click the PayPal button below to financially support TKP. And if you really want to be an All-American, make it a recurring payment.

Because this question has been asked more than once, if you don't have a PayPal account and want to mail a check:

If you're in Blacksburg this weekend, huzzah, the TKP Tailgate is happening Monday. Check out the details and RSVP if you plan to come.
