There were rumblings before the season that Frasier Dana Holgorsen may have been on the hot seat. When you combine 7-6, 4-8, 7-6 seasons + WVU's change at athletic director this year, I'd say it would behoove Frasier Holgorsen to have a good season. Every year Holgorsen goes on record saying "it's the best defense I've ever had" but it doesn't seem to bear any fruit. 16-20 conference record since entering the Big XII is probably not going over well in Morgantown.
WVU was flying high after a 45-6 beating over Maryland and things were looking good. Then they go to OU and lose by 20. WVU had a chance to get back on track and set things right, but lost to Oklahoma State at home. I think to some extent WVU's season is teetering. And now they have to go to Waco and face Baylor....
Since 2011, going to Waco has been a death sentence. 27-1 at home, beating conference opponents 20 points a game. Good teams go to Waco and get run out of the city. On top of the fact, Baylor's going to be in a bad mood for this one. After the Mountaineers were the only thing to stand in the way of Baylor getting into the playoff, they're gonna be ready for this one (REVENGE!). And if Baylor catches WVU in bad spot, they're not letting up.
Baylor is favored by 3 TDs. Let's say that Baylor embarrasses WVU (59-17 or something like that) and then WVU has to go to Fort Worth and face TCU in their next game. WVU's season could go off the rails in a hurry. I think if WVU isn't careful and gets blown out this weekend, it could be a sign that the Holgorsen Era is coming to an end.
OR maybe this is wishful thinking on my part, because I'd enjoy seeing WVU suffer. Thoughts?

I hope they lose by 100.
yeah..what this guy said
That's not enough
Let's not set our sights so low now.
Quitter.
You left off a few zeroes.
I hope Baylor goes for 2 every single time and goes for an onside kick every time. 160-0 sounds appropriate.
By halftime.
Reminds me of a great Woody Hayes quote. A reporter asked him why he went for a two point conversion against Michigan and he responded with "Because the rules won't let you go for three."
One of my favorite quotes. Although the version I always heard was " because we couldn't go for 3 against the sons of bitches"
I don't understand "
FrasierDana Holgorsen" as an insult. It's much more insulting to call him Dana Holgorsen. Frasier, at least, had some credible attributes. Holgorsen is turd bucket.IDK, I think I was just insulting his hairline.
Hot call
Right?
It should be brought up that Luther Campbell (Uncle Luke) wants Dana Holgorsen to coach the Miami Hurricanes.

I love that tweet.
He actually wants the enigmatic "Dana Hologram"
I dunno, I hope holgerson stays around. He's basically north Mike London (with offense instead of a 3rd down defense)
Sorry, its Miami week, and Duke Johnson is still running free in our secondary
VT's season hasn't gone like I hoped it would. But I still wanted to take time for a few minutes to be a WVU hater! I just assumed random WVU hate was always welcome here.
You assume correctly.
Always. And to my cousins in Keyser, WV trying to get me to go to FedEx in 17 to be exposed to thousands of West Virginia fans that do not have a blood relation to me keeping them from shooting me...nah. Enjoy your skullet haired coach and conference games in Iowa.
Cousins...
Huh I have cousins in Keyser too. Weird.
Always time...
*pee pee soaked heck hole.
Think of the furniture industry in Morganhole! Where are they gonna go when no one wants to burn their couches?
Jeez I sure hope so.
I don't care what happens to WVU football
Didn't Baylor score like 60 in the half against a couple years ago?
The O/U is 75.5. Baylor may score, a lot, but they don't like to play D either. That could be reached at half.
And WVu plays TCU next week. Two weeks, combined scores, could be over 200!
Baylor plays better D than TCU. They've allowed a max of 35 points which was against high-scoring Texas Tech, a team who averages 52.7 points per game. Baylor gives up, on average, 22.2 points per game. Sure, not fantastic, but you don't have to be fantastic when you score 64.2 points per game. Baylor will beat TCU because of their defensive ability and TCU's lack of one.
Eh, I think the jury may still be out on this. Baylor hasn't exactly played anyone. They both played SMU and TT, and you're correct that TCU gave up more points in both cases. But it isn't like one team is a defensive juggernaut and the other is a wet noodle either.
Just...be sure to watch the game because the O/U will be like 140.
True, but TCU's defense has been decimated by injuries and suspensions and such. I'm pretty sure none of their starting LBs are still there for one reason or another. What I love about TCU is that they have a thing about being dramatic. The ending to the Texas Tech game with the tipped TD. The Kansas State ending as well. I love watching their offense. Doctson is nucking futs and Boykin is fun to watch. I hope he wins the Heisman, but that would require something happening to Fournette IMO. Plus Boykin is leading my college fantasy team so I root a little harder for him. But it's quite a departure from the TCU teams of about 4-6 years ago where they were so defensive focused.
I do recall TCU being a very defensive-oriented team, and Baylor not so much. Maybe my perception of these guys is affected by that. I can't say I've seen much from either of these teams yet, I've been waiting for the OK/Tx/TCU/Baylor matchups to start. As long as they are on a channel I get, I should be able to tune into them.
The BigXII vs West Vaginia
I remember when they announced the move to the Big 12 and I laughed my ass off at all the WVU fans who thought they would continue to win like they had against the Big East. Couple this with the fact that Iowa State is the closest conference team and I think WVU screwed themselves worse than David Carradine.
So moving to the Big 12 has really worked out for them.
Usually whenever I finish a game online against someone in NCAA, I'll message them good game afterwards. But after I beat wvu, it's always "that Black Diamond Trophy is right where it belongs" or something similar
Sounds like a few of them in a row actually
Gotta be honest, I don't really consider them a rival right now. We're both pretty much doing our own things (badly).
Being a West Virginian with a lot of friends that went to that place, I don't think they think about us much either.
I've lived in West Virginia my entire life. The rivalry doesn't carry the same hatred it used to. It used to be about which team was better. Now it's about which team is worse. I can assure you Mountaineers do not like Dana. Every year the Mountaineers inexplicably win a top 25 game that kind of saves him, though. 2012 it was Texas, 2013 Oklahoma State, 2014 Baylor. Wouldn't be suprised if we saw the Mountaineers win tomorrow, although a loss by 160 would certainly make for some sights I will never forget for the rest of my life at my local Wal-Mart.
I'm confused by the use of the term "program-altering". Wouldn't "program-altering" make them better?
We may be hurting after the Miami game...but at least we didn't lose 62-38
I guess there is that. On the other hand, we gave away the Miami game and LOLUVa managed to get a win over an ACC team...
