PC Replay and Periscopes of coaches

I'm not sure how long this link will stay active, but here is WDBJ7's replay of the press conference

I'm really impressed with Coach Fuente. He all but said VT is his dream job.

Edited:
Found these periscope links with interviews of Coach Wiggins, Coach Shibest, and Coach Beamer after the press conference:

thanks!

Wow. Shibest really is going to fit in well.

2026 Season Challenge: TBD
Previous Challenges: Star Wars (2019), Marvel (2020), Batman (2021), Wrasslin' (2022)

I'm gonna miss Frank. He's a true Hokie Legend. That being said, I'm really excited to see what Fuente can do. I think he's a great character guy and I hope his offense pairs nicely with Bud's defense. It's been a long time coming and I'm sure Bud is excited to have a proven offensive mind in the Burg. Should be exciting!

The Beamer one was great, especially talking about Bud.

"Hey, Bud, calm down here now... We gotta be good."

Thank you very much for posting these!

Keep calm, Gobble on

a theme that I'm picking up on and very excited about:

Wiggins and Fuente were both asked point blank to describe their offensive philosophy and both said that it's important to tailor the offense to the talent on the roster. This is the most exciting point to me. It seems that over the last 15 years VT has been trying to run a system offense with guys who don't necessarily fit the system. It's refreshing to hear that these coaches want to come in and build an offense around the players here instead of trying to find players to fit a specific scheme. Music to my ears.

100% agree, key injuries and a lack of recruiting OLine from 2010-2012 ish really hampered us. I think that's why people have been so frustrated with the offense over the years, it felt like there were times that play-calling fed into our weaknesses not our strengths.

For example, running WR screens and sweeps when we have true freshman recievers who simply dont have the NCAA strength to block effectively. I dont want to hamper on the past and be negative towards a staff and athelets who didn't live up to their potential not because of a lack of effort, Loeffler and Co. worked their butt off.

But, I completely agree, it is very exciting to hear.

Love it. Fuente said all the right things.

Couple key statements of interest to me
-The offense is not trying to score the most points in the country at any cost. The offense is trying to score points while not burning out the defense. (As if the defense hasn't already been hung out to dry on three and outs for years)
-The offensive scheme will be suited toward personnel.
-Said his program running ideas were directly taken from Patterson. (Who I think runs a model program)
-Said coaching is about the kids next 40 years, not 4.
-Said first reason he answered the call about the job was because of Whit.

Truly a perfect personality fit for VT

Nailed the tie choice.

The Dude Abides

Offensive philosophy by Coach Wiggins. Run to win. Throw to score. I like it.

"...When we step on that field, they bleed like we bleed and we're gonna show the world."
-Corey Marshall

Recruiting: These guys have been fishing pretty deep in the 2* waters at Memphis.

That's great for player development, but they are about to be introduced to recruiting a different class of guys. We will see how they will do.

If we get Cornerley for QB's and Dickey stays at Memphis, we can slide Wiggins to RB and go find the best WR coach we can who is known for his recruiting. I'm assuming Vice will come over to coach OL. We may have opened up that spot on defense by not retaining Cornell so that we could add another recruit-first guy.

Wiggins: "Run to win. Throw to score."

Drive for show. Putt for dough.
