OT: Kansas Fans Applaud Oklahoma Guard Buddy Hield

Buddy Hield had 46 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in a triple overtime loss to Kansas last night. After being interviewed by Scott Van Pelt, some Kansas fans applauded him as he walked off the court.

I'm sure there are a lot of fanbases who would have taunted him and cursed him off the court, so it's nice to see opposing fans show love to a great player. As passionate as Kansas is about their basketball, it seems like they have perspective and are willing to give props where they are due.

Dude did it right and shows respect. He didn't come across as a prick like Reddick, or most other "ballers" at the college level of the past. Just went out there and willed his team to probably the best game we will see this year. Big fan

He had to be absolutely spent, but the video of him in the headphones was him giving a post game interview with Scott Van Pelt. How many players would have done with the class this man did? I had watched the guy play before, but was very impressed with his game. Especially considering he was inbounding the ball that was stolen and changed the game in KU's favor.

Both OU and KU look like complete teams that will be tough to beat.

That's nice but he would have gotten a difference reception if OU won.

For some reason, I don't think so. I think Kansas fans are a smart and classy fan base in terms of their basketball IQ. They know that this wasn't a final four game, but a regular season matchup. When a team with that much history sees the most points ever dropped by an opposing player in Allen Fieldhouse, they show the due respect. With 3 OT's of high level, thrilling basketball, everyone in the building (or watching TV) got their money's worth and got treated to a fantastic game.

The fans know their basketball and respect when they see someone play it at its highest level. Dude played 54 of the possible 55 minutes and had 46 points, can't do anything but respect that.

My wife and I went to the Orange Bowl game VT against Kansas. It was on the coldest day of the winter in FL that year - it was 20 degrees in Miami while tailgating before the game!
The Kansas fans there were some of the nicest opponent fan bases we have gone against, ever. It was a chilly, but really great experience with VT fans and them before and after the game that weekend.

I can also verify that Kansas fans are really nice.
