So we all would rather have the T over V logo on our helmets for every game rather than the square root of 1 logo, aka power VT?
New stripes with old VT logo? Talk about disjointed design.
Have no worries, the Power VT would make its return for literally every other game
In my opinion the old VT is the much superior logo
Just curious, why don't people like the all whites? I loved the old ones from the early 2000s
Also, was a huge fan of these helmets but I seem to be in the minority
I'm a big fan of the all whites. Pair a stripeless, minimalistic white jersey and pants with that helmet we wore against UNC and wear the white cleats with orange accents and you've got a sharp looking kit.
Agreed, if the rebrand is true and we get a white version of the jersey from last weekend plus white pants and give me dealers choice on the helmet from last weekend, the belk bowl helmet, or maybe the tri-color helmet. I think it would be a solid look. FWIW I think we should go all white for the Miami game, if we each handle our games this week.Allegedly Miami is breaking out their all black uniform for our game that they were originally supposed to wear against GT, again this probably hinges on both teams winning and getting a primetime slot.
The only thing that I say about this new set. Flip the colors on the shoulder numbers. It was an understated 'thing' that we did back in the Vick years that made the uniform look like VT without it having to say it was VT. If you do that with the one from this weekend, you don't need the HOKIES on the front.
Quick question since I was a) too young to remember that era and b) did not follow Tech back then, but outside of our fanbase/big east./maybe acc schools, how recognizable is the different color numbers? I mean to say is that something we for sure started/only can be associated with us (the way certain blue blood schools have immediately recognizable looks)? Also just as devil's advocate does that get play today, would a recruit look at that and go that's Mike Vick/Corey Moore, and that's what legacy I want to build?
Generally speaking, in both the NFL and college ranks, while there are some teams that have the tv numbers (shoulder) mismatched in color from the main body, its done that way because the shoulders on the uniform are a different color from the base.
The Pats tried it in 1993, but it looked god awful, and they quickly scrapped it and never looked back. This was the first, and only time an NFL team tried the mismatch with a uniform that was the same color all around.
When it comes to college, I'm really having trouble finding an example outside of VT. I'm sure they're there, but we had been doing since 1995. Interestingly enough, arguably our 2 most program establishing events, the 1995 Sugar Bowl

and the 1999 Sugar Bowl/BCS Championship

came with us wearing essentially the same uniform set. As for the question on whether recruits still identify with Vick, judging from the reaction that all the recruits on the sideline had when he came around, I would say yes, they do.
Yeah I don't hate the idea, i think i'd just have to see it with our current number style. I also don't hate the name on the front, imo we should do the same with away jerseys but do Virginia Tech sort of what most baseball teams do iirc?, city/school on the road team name at home, although if it results in VA Tech i could see opposition to this since it would "force" the Vah tech association. Moreover it kind of brings everything together, the school name/ hokies on chest from the bruce era, the vick era numbers, but with a new script style that points to the future.
Glad to see they will be dressing for the occasion since black is a color for mourning.
So what you're saying is that this is the greatest uniform OF ALL TIME
I don't know what's more disgusting: the stripes on the tops of the shoulders or on the sides...
LOL! Take your damn leg, Alum!
