With yesterday's nerve-racking 20-14 win over Pittsburgh, the Hokies re-enter the polls coming in at #24 in the Week 13 AP Poll and #25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The top four teams (or 9 for that matter) remain unchanged in the AP Poll from last week with Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, and Clemson in that order. #5 Wisconsin survived it's test against Michigan and Miami put together a strong fourth quarter against UVA to avoid an upset. The only real shakeups to the polls were Kansas State upsetting then #10 Oklahoma State (#13 in CFP Ranking) and Wake Forest winning in exciting fashion to knock off then #25 NC State (#19 in CFP Ranking) in Winston-Salem. Northwestern (#23), Virginia Tech (#24), and Boise State (#25) all entered the AP Poll from being unranked last week while Michigan, West Virginia, and NC State dropped out.
The next College Football Playoff Ranking will happen this coming Tuesday, 11/21 at 7:00 EST on ESPN.

Figured we'd be back in the land of the numbers.
Hopefully we cna finish out with a LOLUVA win and bowl win to get back into top 20!
The only reason why we didn't see that beautiful goal line stand on any network last night or this morning is because we weren't ranked and it saddens me that the rest of the world couldn't fully appreciate the beauty that stand was for our team/program and seniors.
I won't be surprised to see it come up for the LOLuva pregame or early first quarter broadcast.
Goes to show you if you aren't on a national channel, then the voters just look at wins and losses. The fact that our offense vs. their incompetent defense played worse than dog shit and they propel us in the top 25 because we won makes me laugh. If anything, we should have moved down from our lackluster performance vs an inferior team... Whatever, I'll take it.

Disagree completely. Find me 2 teams with same or better records that are better that should be ranked ahead of the Hokies?
Well to preface, I think the ranking system is already broken/a joke. I don't look at same record and say they are identical because of record because SOS can vary by a lot. Sure we moved up because we won and other lost but do I think we are a "top 25" team? hell no... especially as of late.
I just think there are probably more than 24 teams out there that the Hokies would lose a game to at this time.
And I hate saying that. However, the blueprint is there. Dare JJ to run, and don't do anything stupid against the defense.
VT made some mistakes, but they ended up with the win. That's why they keep score instead of rating it like a beauty contest.
Almost winning doesn't win your team a spot in the top 25, and shouldn't.
I get that, winning and having other ahead of you lose will bump you up. I just don't see us as a top 25 team from what I have witness recently vs teams who are less talented.
Idk, not sure who behind us should be ahead of us.. there's plenty of lackluster teams this year
VT finds a way to win. As long as they do that, they deserve their spot.
I'm hoping they'll be able to finish out strong.

Um, I see what you're saying, but it's not the same. It's all relative to the teams around you. Miami, was (at the time) ranked below several one-loss teams because they were playing ugly. The bar is a little lower at the top 20-25 range.
Well I'm definitely not saying we're in that same class by any means...just saying that's what we were saying about them then. Just doing enough to get a W.
