There is no sugar-coating Virginia Tech's 35-49 loss at Old Dominion. For all the things that truly can't be measured through a television, the Hokies looked listless even when it seemed they still were the more talented team. When Old Dominion gathered some momentum, Virginia Tech wilted. Suddenly the Monarchs didn't just look like a scrappy upstart team that benefited from every good bounce. They appeared bigger, stronger, and faster at every level. Against a team that had just lost to a dismal Charlotte 49ers program taking its baby steps into FBS football, there was no way to quantify how the Hokies could look so physically outmatched at the end of the game.
