ASMFC makes drastic changes to Atlantic and Chesapeake Striped Bass Fishing

Passed today by the ASMFC Striped Bass board:

For the Bay- 2020 = 1 fish limit at 18 inches per fish during the regular season.

If you use bait, you have to use a circle hook.

Ocean front, there will be a 28-35 inch slot.

There will be a 17% reduction in harvest- states can have closures to get under the cap. There is a ton of discussion that Maryland will make it illegal to pursue striped bass for catch and release before the trophy season opens. I hope Maryland looks to close July and August, which has a much higher mortality and dead discard rate. Closing catch and release in the winter has minimal impact on the harvest data.

I am trying to get more information.
