So the dead period ended at Midnight and Tech took full advantage of it. They held a recruiting event. Opened up Lane etc. There isn't slot of details out yet but these tweets talk about it and it seemed to go over well.

West Coast four-star locks in an official visit to Virginia Tech
Smart move, keep the Cali kids in their time zone and kept them out of any late night shenanigans of the locals. I think this is something unique that could be built up in future years and am totally for it.
Really solid idea and props to those who conceived it, implemented it, and helped out.
Regardless of what happens with actually getting these guys in, I really love the pro active approach with an original idea like this!

it appears Coach Beau has developed a relationship with the folks at 7v7 group Premium Sports in LA and organized this with them -- appears that all the california recruits who were on campus for the midnight madness event were affiliated with them
Tinajero's tweet is marked as coming from Ohio, so either he sent this from another visit or a layover, which would be a weird layover, Blacksburg to Ohio to LA?
I believe the group that brought the kids to Tech was also planning on taking the same kids to a couple of other schools to maximize the effect of the trip
That's correct they also visited Michigan and Ohio State that I know of
makes sense to minimize the travel back and forth from west coast to east

If this strategy pulls one recruit in, then it's worth the time and effort. I like the out of the box thinking. If you can't out man them, out think them.
