Tony Poljan - Transfer Portal

Reports are saying that he is going to leave Central Michigan University for a power 5 school so that he can get some more looks against power 5 opponents. He's considered one of the top senior Tight Ends in the draft class, with some draft pundits saying he's a top 5 draftable tight end. Do you think Va. Tech would have any interest with Keane having left?

I'm not sure we need another player to compete with Hooker/Patterson/Burmiester

Take your leg.

You're joking but this guy actually played his first 1.5 seasons at QB.

here's his embed

6-7

If my experience with QBs TEs means anything, I think he's probably more like 6-14

Can he play power forward?

One would hope the NCAA would not make FBS to FBS transfers sit out an additional year after Covid this season, but then again it is the NCAA.

I believe the rule is one year since last game played. Which that should be a home run for a lawyer to get that player ready to play in 2021.

You say that, but Brock Hoffman...

Technically Brock sat out a year since his last game played

It depends, if he transferred to VT he would have to sit a year, if he transferred to one of the other 129 fbs teams, he would be immediately eligible.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

No no no.... If there is no 2020 season, there were no games to sit out, so any transfer would need to still sit out through the 2021 season to make themselves eligible.

Unless they are transferring into any school other than Virginia Tech

From the NCAA Rules:

"Academic year in residence: Under the basic transfer regulations, you must spend an academic year in residence at the school to which you are transferring. If you transfer from a four-year college to an NCAA school, you must complete one academic year in residence at the new school before you can play for or receive travel expenses from the new school, unless you qualify for a transfer exception or waiver. To satisfy an academic year in residence, you must be enrolled in and successfully complete a full-time program of studies for two-full semesters or three-full quarters. Summer school terms and part-time enrollment do not count toward fulfilling an academic year in residence."

Says nothing about games. Only that they are enrolled at meet the qualification of a full time student for two semesters.

in residence

So athletes at schools that go online-only would require a waiver?

He's too tall for QB so we are good there. But can he catch without falling down?

I see what you did there!

Even when you get skunked; fishing never lets you down. 🎣

Probably headed to MSU or U Mich

Has this guy shown any interest in VT or vice versa?

Bob: What would ya say ya do here?

Brad: I already told you! I iron out the minutiae so Justin doesn't have to. I have people skills dammit! What the hell is wrong with you people?

I would have to think we would at least get a decent look with him considering Bill Belicheck just traded up in the draft to get Keene. Want to go to the NFL? Guy just got drafted from here.

Yeah, but he's from Lansing, or at least attended high school there, so I would kinda think Michigan State is one of the favorites to land him, with Michigan also making a strong push. Guess it would depend on whether he wants to leave Michigan or not. However, in all seriousness, I'm not sure we need another TE for just one year. I think Mitchell and Gallo should work out rather nicely, so it's not like we'd have a huge void there for him to fill.

Ew.

Man, that's just an awful choice.

But considering the way we typically use our TEs in this scheme, he seems more like a true TE. We use ours more in the backfield as H-Backs or split out wide or in motion like Mitchell.

Between this and the QB from Miss St, Bronco has done a nice job of reloading.

He might of well stayed at CMU at that rate.

What a sneaky freaking weapon for Bronco to have on the field.

At least he's only a one-year thing, but watch for him to be used in a trick play at some point vs VT. Or just to try and bowl over someone in the defense.

I'd much rather have picked him up for VT, but oh, well...
