Exum hard pivots to Electropop after NFL. Video reminds me of Depeche Mode enjoy the silence meets Goyte Somebody I used to know, but with a random horse.
I'm probably in the minority but I dig it.

If I listened to the song without the video, it'd be awesome. But that video, is... something else.
He's always been a pretty weird dude. Cool, but out there lol
He might've played his nuts off for VT but..
The horse is symbolic of his time as a centaur...
No idea what the blue star means... WHAT DOES IT MEAN?????
it means #YouWasInTheLibrary ofc
Not gunna lie, kind of loving it...
The video is a bit amateurish, but the song is really well written and produced.
It definitely has a cool new wave 80s vibe. I think it's great.
"Gentleman, which brings me to my next point: don't smoke crack." LT
I actually really like it.
I'd classify this as Eurotrash industrial punk funk.
Anyway, good on AE!
Nah, this is sick. This is straight chill mode and the videography is actually what I expect from this genre. Book it. New tailgate music 💯!
To the mooon!
Totally stealing the "hopping pelvic thrust" at the next wedding reception...
I loved it. Felt a lot of Arcade Fire in it actually, might just be his voice though.
I definitely got the Arcade Fire vibe, and even though I'm not a big fan of their music, I liked this.
Yah I haven't listened to them in about 10 years, but it instantly took me back to The Suburbs
It's got a Still Woozy vibe, both musically and cinematically. I fuck with it.

Good example here.
the video gave me Napoleon Dynamite vibes
Damn dude. Wow. I have so many thoughts about this.
This is like if "Goodbye Horses" was recorded by Cameo. And I mean that as a huge compliment. (On a second & third listening, it's actually a huuuge rip-off of "Goodbye Horses" PLUS the vid is full of actual horses and I am so here for it.) Also major flavors of Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" and that one hit the Silversun Pickups had, "Lazy Eye". It's groovy as hell and I like the lyrics.
But the video takes it to another level. It's so strange and so beautifully kind of naive and retro and earnest in a way that I really respect. He's so willing to be weird, he is so okay with being a truly😳bad dancer, the whole blue star thing, the silly cross-dissolves - all of it is such a specific, cultivated vibe.
I think that it obviously isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, which is fine; I also think there will be the usual haters who will be all "the fuck is this dude on about", "you're a 30 year old football player not a singer", etc and dismiss it out of hand. Me? I think it takes major balls to put yourself out there - and do something so completely different from most athletes-turned-artists.
I think if this was made by an unknown 20 year old from NC School of the Arts, it would go viral. I think it slaps - and it has nothing to do with my allegiance to Exum as a Hokie.
I absolutely love it, and I can't wait to hear what else he's doing.
i'm in the "not my cup of tea" bin. Not a complaint about his song, but this genre in general has zero appeal to me. Bring on the new releases from Foo Fighters, Chevelle, and Royal Blood please.
Not great, not awful. Perhaps he could team up with MGMT
Love the vibe. This slaps!
Sounds a lot like Twin Shadow. Good stuff.
I listened to the song but didn't watch the video (music videos have a tendency to ruin songs for me, I think because I grew up without them) but I enjoyed this song on first listen.
I dig it! No idea what the horse/blue star is supposed to symbolize, but very interesting. Also someone needs to make a gif of the lunging pelvic thrust move for future giftory purposes.
This is gold right here.
the only thing that could've made this better is if he could have integrated "Stick in in!" as part of the chorus
I predict these gifs to show up in a many FAM threads in the future.
I'm sure almost everyone here remembers this, but if you didn't know back in 2012 Antone Exum did one of the cooler things I've ever heard of a VT player doing.
Super cool move
Maybe it's just me, but the vibe & aesthetic feels very much like someone inspired by Frank Ocean.
And that's fine by me, cause I've loved Frank Ocean's stuff ever since he dropped his nostalgia,ULTRA mixtape.
This legit slaps. Didn't know what to expect but love it!
Honestly, dug the track quite a bit. It is gonna be in my head for the rest of that afternoon for sure. On top of that the video had me cracking up at various points. BRB, gotta watch it again...
I have listened probably 10 times and really enjoy it, especially the intro. Any suggestions for similar songs? Closest I can think of is John Mayer - New Light
I tried to create a spotify radio for the song, but spotify won't load anything.
Clearly the track is that unique.
There's just nothing else like it.
Been listening to this one on repeat on spotify.
Can you imagine if this was produced in his VT days?
Think about those gifs playing on the jumbotron after a big hit in the open field?
New song/video out. NSFW.

It's like I'm fever dreaming watching this video but I like it.
Crippling lack of hump jumps though
Feels like I might have taken the bad "brown acid" watching this.
Before I click this, we we saying the lyrics are NSFW or the video is NSFW?
Yes.
In all seriousness, video more than lyrics. then again, I couldn't understand the lyrics as well.
Alright, better turn my wifi off before I pull it up on the phone
I wouldn't blast a song with the n-word in the office, or go fullscreen on a video showing a Bonnie-and-Clyde style shootout with police 🙂
I mean, I pretty regularly hear my boss in the next office over (40 year old white dude) listening to Wu Tang on spotify...so I think I'm safe on the lyrics part, lol
I didn't realize we work in the same office...40 year old white dude that listens to Wu Tang...haha
same, just 2 years younger, lol
Was this a music video or a GTA VI trailer?
While I kinda liked the first track, I turned this one off as soon as I saw the police officers with pig faces. I have several friends, both male and female, who are members of local police departments. I don't need or want to see that.
... then just don't watch the video?
Full album now available. It's... eclectic.

It's like... Kid Cudi crossed with a house music version of radiohead? I kinda dig it.
Byrd Theatre in RVA on Carytown has "Congrats Exum on your album" up front on the letterboard.
