Virginia Tech DT Dashawn Crawford is in the portal, @247Sports has learned. Crawford had 27 tackles, 6 TFLs & 3.5 sacks in 2019 with 11 starts. He posted 4 tackles last season while dealing with injuries all year. @VTScoop247 https://t.co/UQZCmklC1G— Chris Hummer (@chris_hummer) May 14, 2021

I think this one hurts optically more than in actuality. Never like seeing guys go, but an older player whose missed a lot of time with injuries and was on the outside looking in because of it.
Losing depth sucks, but it sounds like he wasn't going to be in the two deep unless he got healthy.
Your last statement is hilarious. this defense was 105th last year, and all of the sudden DaShawn Crawford is the 5th DT. lmfao. Hilarious.
To be clear he played 3 games in the course of 4 months, 14 of 24 in his career, and all the reports said he's struggled this spring coming back from his knee injury.
You're right, he's not DT5 in a healthy body but if you can't be on the field then does it matter?
Luckily we have Yuge depth on the the D line so this won't hurt, *sigh*...
Cut the bullshit. When he was healthy, he was the best guy we had up there. Any talk of he was passed on the depth chart is horse shit and/or we are in deep trouble.
Or maybe he's not healthy? Big guys and knee problems don't mix.
Shit I hope we do have better players than Crawford. I would not have thought he would be as far down as 3rd string though. 1st and 2nd are almost synonymous if rotated properly. Who knows his reasons. I hate the portal.
Unexpected outside of a relatively harmless tweet a few days ago about his graduation (which is awesome, I'm very glad he got his VT degree). The tweet was not even a substantial hint that he might transfer, but my immediate reaction was a twinge of "thanks for everything, I'm out..." I quickly decided I was reading too much into it, and I probably still was, but here we are.
He retweeted 2 hours ago about a full Lane stadium for the fall games.
Hmm...I assumed one of Crawford, Pollard, or Kendricks was a potential Portal entrant.
Didn't think Crawford was likely to be the one, though.
I liked him and thought he was great in 2019...but maybe his skill sets aren't a fit in Hamilton's defense. Always sucks to lose talent, but if he wasn't in the mix going into the fall he should go somewhere he's a better fit.
