1000% committed ! #GoHokies ๐งก pic.twitter.com/VjySKRcxs5โ Darren Buchanan Jr ๐๐ฝ (@dbuchananjr2) March 5, 2022
Darren Buchanan Jr. committed to the Hokies at 3 pm today. He plays for Wilson HS in Washington, DC. He recently posted a double-double against Gonzaga HS in the DCSAA semi-finals. Per 247 he is the #2 player in the district and picked the Hokies over offers from Georgetown, George Mason, and GW.
A late riser in the 2022 class, this is another great get for the Hokies from the DC area

Credit to the Cassell Guard in the article as well...
"Coaches at every school say the right things and try to make you feel loved, but when the entire student section started chanting, 'We want Darren,' without any message on the board telling them to, it really moved us," Buchanan Sr. said. "It was like we were back in the city. Felt just like the [Wilson] Tiger Den."
I remember that, the Cassell Guard "leaders" are really good at that stuff. Can't imagine that very many students or fans knew who he was / that he was visiting, but they still got thousands to chant for him. I'm very into VT basketball and it took even me a couple rounds of chants to realize what was going on.
The student section was very loud that day. Good game for a recruit to attend, even though we lost. (except UNC games are also bad ones to visit because there is a lot of tar heel blue in the crowd due to the local bandwagons / football only VT fans)
This is a nice win off the court after things didn't go our way on the court with ladies and the gents. Buchanan is underrated
Yeah, I'm bringing out the gif!!!
Basketball recruiting win! Hell to the yes!
Great get to fill up the class for next year. Nice range of size and skill in the '22 class. Great work Mike Jones. Keep crootin' that talent to VT hoops.
6'7" wing players are always nice to have. Welcome to Blacksburg Junior!
