LETS GO!!!

Hokies!

Wait, it says we are 22-18 in the 757 where the toughest competition is .......ODU? I'd ask for more details but I don't want to get sick before gameday. "Tech is no stranger to Norfolk, having played 40 games in the 757 in its history, racking up 22 victories."

We used to play William & Mary a lot.

For some reason I did no think they were in the 757

Williamsburg has always seemed like a weird addition to the 757, should be 804 IMO.

The Series between VT and W&M sits at 40-18-4 with Virginia Tech holding the series edge. At home against William & Mary, VT is 20-6-1; Away they're 7-6; and at a neutral site, their record is 13-6-3. As stated before this series dates back to 1904 when the Hokies defeated the Tribe 30-0 in its first ever meeting in Blacksburg. VT dominated the first 14 games going 12-0-2 until they lost their first game of the series on October 9, 1937. The schools met annually every year from 1929 to 1985 (with the exception being in 1943 and 1944 during World War II). During that stretch Tech went 28-18-4.

Believe it or not VT didn't play W&M in Williamsburg until 1946 where they lost 49-0, part of a 12 game losing streak to the Tribe that lasted from 1940 to 1953 (with the aforementioned two year WWII gap). Most games from 1929 to 1941 were played in Richmond Va., and for that matter VT didn't host the Tribe from 1929 until 1942 when VT lost 21-7. VT has played W&M 17 times in Richmond total, the last time being on October 8, 1977 with VT getting a 17-8 win. Other neutral site games were played in Roanoke (four times) and Norfolk (once).

Also seeing lots of references to neutral site games that area; Temple, VMI among them.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

I wonder how long the trip from Williamsburg to Blacksburg took in 1904. I'm sure it was mostly by train, but man I bet it took a while.

There isn't a whole lot of corn

Not sure if this merits its own thread but I just read that ODU is returning 20+ starters for a coaching staff that has been together for three years. My spidey senses are tingling that with experience, a lot of time to game plan, and Rahne's familiarity with our defensive scheme with pieces not fit to that scheme that this game could be rough.

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

That's a notable observation that probably got overshadowed by this thread.

Sadly the Wake Forest OC is probably familiar with us as well.

If I'm not mistaken, ODU didn't have a football season due to COVID. Last year was really Rahne's first full year coaching the program

They also have a 6'8" TE that runs a 4.5 40 and has a 40" vert. He was a state hurdle champion and was listed on the freak list this year. So they got that going for them... which is nice.

Really don't want my Virginia Beach Labor Day vacation brought down by a fat L. Especially after I spent way more than I care to think about on tickets.
