Best of luck to you wherever you land, Keshon!

Was a little surprised when he walked with the seniors yesterday. But I wish him luck wherever he goes.

Hokies for Life

This means McDonald or Keller will be earmarked for MIKE unless there is a transfer at that position.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Artis got award for best special teams player last night too at football awards banquet.

Sorry to see him go. Loved watching him hit people. Hopefully successful at the next stop.

I hate rude behavior in a man. Won't tolerate it.

one click shows Wagoneer's been around TKP for 7 years. Sheesh. Everyone take a nap, have a snickers or something.

I wish him the best of luck, was just stuck on the depth chart, but I thought he always showed well when he was on the field.

Hope he has good luck and success wherever he goes.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Yeesh, this feels like a mass exodus.

Contextually how bad really is this?

If you were hoping to land incoming transfers this is a good and necessary thing. An exodus via the transfer portal is the only way the numbers work out

Just to add on, a lot of these guys are older or buried. The roster needs a big churn to help get us on the right track, so this is a part of the process.

If you were hoping to land incoming transfers

this is the key. If these coaches are able to rebuild this roster and field a better team next year that will be a great job done. This is where they earn their keep, IMO. If we struggle to get players in the door to replace the outgoing guys and we look the same or worse next year I'll be very, very concerned about their future.

Onward and upward

Did you miss the post-season press conference with Pry? He said he had 30-40 "exit interviews" scheduled with players. I think you can expect a lot. I have seen estimates that we will take 23-25 players in this recruiting class with ~10 portal transfers in and that would leave us needing ~15-20 players out. This is all just Pry remaking the roster as fast as possible.

Our #s coming into today were 90 scholarships.

We were due to lose a bunch if we expect to get anybody to come in

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Tough to say until we see who's coming back. Worth noting that of the 9 players who have announced portal entries (at time of posting this):

  • 4 are redshirt seniors who only have an extra year due to covid
  • 6 were unable to get near significant playing time this year (Artis, Chatman, and Smith being the exceptions)
  • 3 were redshirt Freshman

Is there a scholarship tracker out there? Be curious to see how many we have available with all of these transfers.

I have us at 82 scholarships at this point after 8 scholarship transfers out

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

That is still a fair number of scholarships taken. I guess our fun with the portal isn't over yet.

Good luck with everything Mr. Artis. Wishing you the best.

I would take artis back, he's better than most of the backers we have.

NGL - might not be a bad idea.

Christ isn't this gonna be his 7th season????

uh huh...

I hope this goes plaid.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

If DC had made the comment about a 7th season, there would have been 50 key play trolls ready to call him out.

DC responded and (as I type) is at +5.

His response was also there when Nneckhokie84 posted. Still waiting on those "trolls" too.

Hey, you guys see spring chicken Hailey Van Lith is transferring to TCU? The horned frogs are getting a nice young player.

Cost them a Cavinder twin. They were "teammates" for like ten minutes.

Guy is a thumper. Bring him back.

"That's it guys. Let's get out of here. That cold drink's waitin' on us, let's go." - Mike Young after win no. 300.

I don't think the issue was ever with his hitting, it was largely around not being in the right spot. He was a fantastic special teams player, but IIRC he had problems with run fits and some challenges in coverage.

While I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up, I am actually not in favor of burning a schollie to bring him back. If the light didn't come on at VT and it didn't come on at NIU (I didn't see any stats for him last season), then I'm not sure how he's going to improve our LB corps. I hated typing that, but I honestly believe him ending up at a smaller school is better for everyone.

Pretty sure he got hurt at NIU and missed the season. I hear what you're saying, but our problem has been the lack of a guy at MLB to step in and deliver a pop and get the guy on the ground. He can do that. I'd take a flyer on him.

This right here. I think he mainly was stuck behind Dax the whole time here and never got into a groove. We need a presence at Mike that will fly toward the ball and deliver a pop. We hear raves about Brumfield but unless the plan at the spring game was just to sit back and not be aggressive, I didn't see a ton to feel confident about. We need an assertive presence at MLB and he knows the program/system. Don't think it's a terrible idea at all.

I think there were rumors of effort issues during the first Pry season. I do remember watching a video where Pry, in a disappointed voice, yelled "come on Keshon ".
If those rumors are true, the two sides would probably have to have a come to Jesus sort of meeting.
