For the second year in a row VT Men's Rugby is going to the finals.
This is a good club that is consistently doing well despite the appearance of their considerable number of losses in-conference. College club rugby will play schools D1-D1 AA. VT is D1-AA so, a smaller school. For the national championship playoffs they play schools in their same size bracket.
Many of their games are viewable from the sideline by amateur camera on youtube.
They'll be playing against Louisville this weekend in Houston. I do not know the day and time yet.

If you squint through the blur I see Dec 10 at 2 PM. It'll be on youtube but the link is down for details.

Something to note about this team. They are coached by players. This is not common. They get little financial support from the school and it costs the team about $10,000 to travel and attend this major tournament away games.

VT is men's Rugby Division 1-AA 2 years in a row.
School needs to support this team more.
Reading the comments, I had no idea what I was reading but I was invested in the outcome. When I read Hokies win, I was YES, we won. And back to back titles no less. go Hokies!
Haha I had the same thought - isn't defense the offense once they get the ball? Fun to read all the same and a great result!
That can be refusing but, in Rugby, when tackled, the play doesn't stop and it requires certain "controlled fumble" for the offense to retain the ball. This means that the defense can continually tackle the offense for a loss, thus the defense advancing the ball down the field.
A kick to the other team is seen as an offensive move as it advanced the ball down the field. Of course you want to get the ball from the other team as soon as possible.
Field position is everything in rugby and with the exception of a breakaway, the ball moves a small amount each play.
a knock on is seen the same as a forward pass, which is not legal.
It is usually when someone drops the ball or cannot catch a pass and it lands in front of them.
I just learned more about the game in those two comments than from my wife (who briefly played at tech)or just watching a game with no context. That actually makes a lot of sense, thank you
That was a nail biter. Some great defensive stands by VT. How do we financially support them?

That was a very exciting game.
Hell yes!!!
Felt traditional VT. Strong defense little offense.
FAM!!!
Rugby 7s starts next month.
OMG, sorry guys, I think this is outstanding I'm beside myself. 2 Nattys in a row.
We need to either: 1) rename the thread, or 2) FAM thread, or c) underpants.

You're the best.
Awesom! Our guys tackle better than most of our FB defense!
Obviously excellence in brewing beer and Rugby knowledge go together.
Congrats to the Hokie National Champions!
