The ladies host UNC Ashville today at 1PM. The game is on ACCNx. UNC Ashville is 4-3 with home wins against Converse, Western Carolina and Warren Wilson and a road win at Queens(NC). Their losses were at Florida and at home to Chattanooga and Furman.
The Hokies will have their usual height advantage. The Bulldogs play only one player over 6' tall, 6'3" R-Jr F Nycerra Minnis plays about 15 min/game. UNC Ashville is a relatively young team starting 2 sophomores 2 juniors and 1 senior.
I think this is one of the games in which the Hokies could try to get Kitley a triple double. She should have no trouble getting 10 points and 10 rebounds. I would like to see them put more emphasis on her passing out of the post either to a cutting Soule or Traylor for an easy layup or to an open King or Amoore for an easy three to try and get 10 assists. The Bulldogs may also be candidate for a lot of blocks. How rare is a quadruple double?
The Bulldogs do not shoot well from three (24% on the season); and only shoot 40% overall. Only one player, #13 Brooks-Sumpter averages over 30% from three and she has only attempted 9 shots from beyond the arc all season. They have six players averaging 2 or more fouls per game; it is possible that their subs may play a lot of the game.
This game should be a good tune up for#5 Notre Dame on Dec 18. Unlike Lt. Peterson, I have no idea how to predict the score of a game; but I don't think this afternoon's game will be close.

I am a disappinted at the overlap with the men's game. I am hoping we are up by 30 before that one starts......
Men are on ESPN2; so they will be on the TV. And I will have the women on ACCNx on the computer. Hopefully I will be able to keep track of both games.
UNCA is one of the worst shooting teams in the country, and their tallest player who plays more than 18 minutes per game is 5-11.
Kitley might have 20 in the first quarter.
I really want to see 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks.
So of course they've swished two 3 pointers halfway through the first quarter. Hokie luck at work today

Hokies win 86-48! 5 Hokies in double figures, including Kitley with 20 pts and 10 rebs
Switched to the mens at only up twenty. Was not in doubt. Played lazy early. Hopefully they will stay focused for four quarters in the next one. I think they will, and I think if they do only the refs could give ND a win. We are really good when we stay focused on defense and under control on offense.
Great win, had to hurry home after game to watch the men's second half.
