My mother was watching on TV...She has 3 degrees from UVA, and she desperately wanted the Wahoos to win tonight. She texted me mid game to say that "Wow, seems like the refs are calling things three to one against tech". Also, I was disappointed in the way things were run by stadium staff. They never check seats in the student section, just tickets at the door. Furthermore, they sent out a university email earlier saying "come to the standby entrance to get in for free, there are plenty of seats"...they later checked tickets and kicked students out of the stadium because they didn't have tickets and those who did have tickets did not have seats. The problem with this is that though the student section was full, there were seats all over the stadiam. Also, we were winning before they moved me and kicked some of my friends out. We didn't have the lead ever again after that. I know that's not a causation, but it was annoying none the less. I could understand them checking seats given the crowd, but the guy making people move was a real jerk about it. I know you guys probably don't care about the stadium staff, but I just felt a little ranty.

Letting Nolte, a 44% 3 point shooter on the year, make five 3's is just inexcusable. He can't drive by anyone or even shoot off the dribble. All he did was come off fade screens on the weakside and stand on the perimeter waiting for kick-outs, which should both be very simple to defend. We just lacked defensive focus tonight, as we have for most of the season, and didn't defend a completely one-dimensional player well at all.
On the other hand, we wisely didn't guard Jontel or #0 until they crossed the 3-point line, which shows us that Johnson probably did stress the shooters and non-shooters to the team, but we just didn't execute. It's just terrible team defense to let UVA score that many points- they're a very poor offensive team, and if you take away Joe Harris, they should almost never score.

Didn't we lose by about 15 at that? Would've at least gone to OT with them if we had stepped out on ANY of that kid's shots. Stupid Nick Nolte beating us. He doesn't even deserve the last name Nolte. No one does unless you have a deep, gruff voice and have won an Academy Award. Especially not a UVA student.
