Lady Hokies start season 8th in ESPN Top 25

ESPN Top 25

Lady Hokies will prove they belong early with non con matchups against Iowa and LSU.

Hokies will be working in three new contributors from the transfer portal.

Wake Forest forward Olivia Summiel
Michigan State F/G Matilda Ekh
Minnesota forward Alanna Micheaux

This trio last season were all starters and both coming from the Big Ten were All Big Ten selected.

Summiel averaged 7.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game at Wake last season. Micheaux, a 6-foot-2 junior averaged 13.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game for the Golden Gophers. The 6-foot-0 Ekh averaged 11.8 points, three rebounds and two assists per game. Summiel has one year of eligibility remaining and Micheaux and Ekh each have two years remaining. They will be expected to fill the voids left by Traynor and Soule, who were drafted in the WNBA.

They will combine with returning starters Liz Kitley, Georgia Amoore, and Cayla King.

The one area of concern is that beyond these six the depth will be relatively new with the incoming freshmen class of Suffren, Baker, Strack and Nelson. Also joining the freshmen class is Gabby Brooks, Kenny Brooks third daughter to be part of the program. Carleigh Wenzel also returns as a Redshirt Freshman.

TOO LOW!

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

It think that number seems high......

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Really looking forward to seeing what Wenzel will bring in games. She was always a big cheerleader for her team last year while redshirting.

Same here. That is what I am most looking forward too. Having seen her in person a few times recently, she has taken the weight room seriously. She looks stronger than she did last year. She is also taller than I anticipated. Good wingspan. I think she will develop into a good replacement for Traylor over time.

SNUB! SNUB!

pffffft. Let's see how far we rise after we stick it to LSU

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

8th is too low, but I prefer for VT to be the underdog in their early matchups as the team "figures it out".

Hmm. Underdogs.

So you're saying take the Hokies to cover the spread?

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Though unproven, aren't all those freshman players top 100 recruits? Even if 2 of 4 turn into productive players at some point this season, that's a win, right?

Obviously with such a loaded schedule up front, it's possible this team will look much different late into the season once the young players find their click (if they do).

Four Top 100 recruits in the same class?

Kitley's replacement is on the team and I am hoping will be able to give her good minutes of rest during important games. The replacement should be able to get good minutes against our cupcakes.

Yes
Baker 58th
Nelson 65th
Suffren 69th
Strack 95th

Also Alexandra (Lexi) Blue in next years class is a 6'2 Forward currently 41st in class of 24. She will be joined by 6'5 Myah Hazelton and 6'6 Clara Silva.

Imagine Strack, Hazelton and Silva across the frontcourt. Hazelton and Silva both are surprisingly fast for their size so it's going to be fun to watch. It's entirely possible by 24-25 that the Hokies could have four women over six feet on the floor together.

I'm just happy Kitley decided to stay another year!

Looking forward to some women's basketball this year!

Go Hokies!

I think Alanna might be the key piece we were missing against LSU last year, she's a beast in the post/paint
