I LOVE this, though. Brian Katz (second from the left in the picture) is a beloved professor in the civil engineering department. He cares about his students dearly and also throws down big time for VT football tailgates. Specific to traffic engineering - that is supposed to be something that UVA is better than VT at. I work at a big civil engineering company and generally we recruit UVA for traffic/transportation and VT for site development. I always had a suspicion that this was the case not because they have a better traffic program, but because we can't just only hire VT alum. Maybe we need to rethink our strategy...
My company doesn't hire UVA grads except to answer phones. They aren't good enough at practical engineering for work.
