Split Zone Duo (like every niche podcast) did a ketchy end of season award show (link). Brent Pry was 'nominated' for 'best proof of concept shown by a first or second year head coach.' They go on to compare/contrast what Brent Pry is doing at VT to what Brent Key is doing at GT. Discussion starts at 50:50 and goes for close to 10 minutes.

Message Board Genius clipped a thing about UVA fans being mad that Brent Pry has a fake accent, because he's from Buffalo originally. There was a joke in the coaches room at Vanderbilt about this. Franklin would send Brent Pry to southern households cause he actually had a better southern accent than some of the other coaches. It's because he's a coaches kid [and moved around a bunch].

Yeah I looked this up he was born in Altoona, PA but ultimately graduated HS in Lexington, VA. Thought it was weird that it came up multiple times that he was from Buffalo
Yep, born in PA and spent a lot of time growing up in WV (his dad was a QB at Marshall and he coached in WV for years). Then he went to high school in Lexington since his dad was OC at VMI. He played college football at Buffalo but don't get how UVA fans thought he was from there.
That's just uva logic, you know, the same logic that has them saying they're Ivy League

Listened to this episode too. What amazes me about SZD is how in depth thay can go in on any team, P5, G5, etc. It's pretty incredible. And we definitely like hearing the positive vibes they have for VT moving forward.
Same man. Like, I feel like this is what ESPNU should be/could be, maybe even actually was a decade or so ago? One of the things I love about all the old banner society folks is how much appreciation they have for the whole sport.
