Took me 7 hours or so but i finally understand why you commented this lmao
Stumble, fumble, and fall?
Close! I double posted
I assumed it was "double post."
I saw a tweet, saying three outgoing transfers were announced as well, but the only name I have seen is Wells. Did they share the other two outgoing guys (or were they guys who were already known like Wright and Canteen?)
Wish Grant Wells nothing but the best. Feel like he has handled it all with class.
Graduated and married. Welcome to the next chapter Grant. Best of luck.
I'll never beat up on a guy that wants to wear the O&M and works hard to see the field. If he screws up occasionally, that's just life. Hokie forever.
Good luck to Grant. Glad he has some eligibility left and try another location. He gets his SWAG bag as a parting gift.
On that note, what is the Military Bowl SWAG this year?
Microsoft Xbox One console; Under Armour backpack; Might Boom Ball speakers; beanie
Edit: Looks like this was from 9 years ago. I can't find anything on this year.
I'll never hate on a guy who never lost to UVA
Best of luck to you, Wells. Always a Hokie.
This is probably the first substantial blow to our roster this offseason. Assuming Drones is entrenched as the starter (and I do assume that), Wells is about as good a backup as you're going to have, if you're not named Alabama, Ohio State or Georgia. Not sure if most VT fans realize this, but Wells' and Drones' numbers are almost identical in terms of yards-per-attempt, completion %, even yards per carry. Their passer ratings are 137.8 and 136.6.
Having such a talented and experienced backup QB would have been a huge luxury for VT. I'm bummed he's leaving, but I get it. He's good enough to start somewhere. I wish him the best of luck.
Yep, and pre-injury wells was actually pretty solid this year... especially considering the horrific OL play
Absolutely correct.
But you can't blame him.
While the YPA and Ratings were similar, Drones completed 3% more passes, had a significantly higher TD/INT ratio, and was a significantly more consistently better rusher. You cannot say they were equal in rushing when 80% of Wells rushing yards came on one play, and 67% of the remainder came on one other. Take out his two longest rushes and he had 5 yards on 15 carries.
And not just drones rushing, but drones as the threat of the rusher definitely opened things up for tuten as well
And Drones making better reads on the option was a big cause for improvement in the offense.
Wells just didn't have it, whatever "it" is, when things got tough. He was tough, he was willing and often able, but Drones won games that I'm not sure Wells would have won. We have roster problems already, so him leaving will at least open a slot. I do think Grant will do well if he gets the right fit, though. He has many skills, physically, but I'm not sure about his mental game. But now watch...he'll go to one of our ACC rivals and have a career day against us.
GGC ??
Double posting a thread?
/s
Edit: I replied on GGC's double posting a thread and then I posted in the wrong thread. 🙄🙄😂🤣
I read this announcement to be "Wells had played enough and isnready to start life rather than using an extra covid year." Rather than "Pry announces for his backup qb that they are portalling"
"I got married and practice is taking away to much time and energy away from other things if you know what I mean 🍫🍫😉 😉 "
He... workin'...

Neat (right side of the tracks) fam', too.
I'm good friends with his neighbor.
His old man was only one of the Kennedy Award runners-up in '84.
We almost had to face them along the way to those Trip-A's and 24th Sporting News finish.
I wish him well-- he will prolly be some of yah'lls stock-broker or something big-business swaggy.
I've been there-- that street and the peeps in those colossuses have the Park Place juice.
(They were dissatisfied socially-sportingly locally; so, they only built their very OWN C.C.)
💯

Wells dad was runner up for "Gatorade poy" for WV in 1984.
He's probably going into financial management - seems family has ties to a group that went and built their own country club, just cuz
Eye can ghost this much... we got to see him bowl practice... he moving better; finally back to his kinda quickster full-leg turn count. SUCKs he fumbled that (possibly) final long run.... sad.
He's done all he could football do... would that we could all say the, same.
Also... Drones looks back on full health itself.
He had zero (extra) taping bracing on yesterday up in Springfield-- the first time in months; plural.
Tuten was refreshed/sprier as well-- tho' he was STILL totally tapped/braced up; less the knee-ding.
HTH's.
Merry Christmas '23 @Mr. French & TKP, too!
